Job Snapshot

Job Description

Fueled by a fundamental belief that having access to financial services creates opportunity, PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) is committed to democratizing financial services and empowering people and businesses to join and thrive in the global economy. Our open digital payments platform gives PayPal’s 305 million active account holders the confidence to connect and transact in new and powerful ways, whether they are online, on a mobile device, in an app, or in person. Through a combination of technological innovation and strategic partnerships, PayPal creates better ways to manage and move money, and offers choice and flexibility when sending payments, paying or getting paid. Available in more than 200 markets around the world, the PayPal platform, including Braintree, Venmo and Xoom enables consumers and merchants to receive money in more than 100 currencies, withdraw funds in 56 currencies and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in 25 currencies.

In 2018, iZettle became part of the PayPal family. iZettle is on a mission to help small businesses succeed in a world of giants. Tens of millions of small businesses worldwide are still being underserved by the traditional players. By giving small businesses the tools to get paid, sell smarter and grow, we’re empowering them to reach their full potential. Together with PayPal, we can reach 24 million merchants across the world with more of the affordable tools they need to thrive. Join us in putting an end to the ordinary way the world defines financial freedom.

As we continue our quest to democratise financial services, we are looking for an inspiring Web Developer with a Full Stack programming background to join the area responsible for creating an ecosystem of integrations around iZettle’s in-store offering to become indispensable in the era of small business innovation.

Small minds never helped small businesses

At iZettle, we believe that it takes originality and an open mind to start a small business. That’s why, while we take pride in how far we have come, we have no intention of sticking to known patterns or old truths. To carry out our revolution and help small businesses to succeed, we rely on dedicated Teams embracing the opportunity to openly discuss and challenge each other on the best way forward. In other words, we co-elaborate, co-own our successes as well as our setbacks, and make sure to learn and grow together. Are you still with us?

Go where the people speak your language

You will collaborate with your Team including Product and UX Designers, a Product Manager, Backend Developers, and other Web Developers to ensure that our merchants have access to the integrations they need to run their business. This effort cuts across all Teams who work on our PoS offering, as partnerships are only as good as the sum of its parts - the product teams themselves.

Some examples of things you may see yourself doing:

  • Make the iZettle platform more accessible to the wider developer community by helping develop technical guidelines;

  • Build a best-in-class developer platform;

  • Make the developer experience the best it can be for our integrators;

  • Make our merchants’ interactions with integrations as seamless as possible;

  • Make integrations accessible to merchants in the iZettle Backoffice;

  • Build and maintain software libraries for product teams to use;

  • Help build brand new APIs to support new use cases;

  • Develop Technical guidelines and Architectural principles for our product teams building and maintaining APIs through constant experimentation, learning, and collaboration with product teams.

A glimpse of what you'd get here:

Part of our PoS Alliance, our Partnerships area’s core mission is to help merchants run their business by providing an ecosystem of partner integrations that seamlessly connects to the iZettle platform. In this role, you will get the opportunity to collaborate with a group of passionate people working on building integrations and a great developer platform.

The Tech skills to succeed:

  • TypeScript, HTML and CSS

  • API design

  • React, Styled Components, GraphQL, Next.js

The Mindset to exceed:

  • You are known as a true team player famous for being reliable, curious and bold;

  • You genuinely share your knowledge, experience and opinions while respecting that the last word comes from the Team;

  • You make things exciting and wouldn't mind having fun because that’s (also) what we do as a Team.

The nice-to-have...

  • Java and Kotlin

  • PostgresQL

  • AWS (API gateway, EC2, RDS, SQS, SNS, etc.)
