The Checkout Auth Rate Optimization team identifies opportunities for optimizations, and improvements and executes on those opportunities to help drive additional revenue on top of our $100+B in payment volume across 200+ countries. We are creating a world where ‘payments’ is synonymous with PayPal. The experiences that we build are used and seen by millions of end users on a daily basis. We rapidly innovate on new payment scenarios and experiences that have a high impact to PayPal, our partners, and our customers. As an engineer in our development team you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the user experiences on various channels (web, mobile, etc.). You will work closely with product and experience to understand the customer needs and deliver the user experiences that meets their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural leadership in engineering team.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring.
  • Design solutions with the ability to go in-depth on the technology stack, across different technologies to understand and design end-to-end system workflow.
  • Own and drive development and delivery of features end-to-end.
  • Partner closely with product and other dependent teams to craft great product experiences.
  • Actively participate and lead in code reviews to attain the highest standards.
  • Drive teams to follow clean code principles.
  • Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
     

Required Skills

  • BS/BA or equivalent with 6+ years professional software development experience
  • Understanding of object-oriented design and design patterns
  • Experience in designing, developing and delivering software end-to-end, including hands-on coding
  • Good understanding of web application frameworks like React, and Angular
  • Experience with NodeJS, GraphQL, Express
  • Excellent knowledge of programming languages, especially JavaScript.
  • Familiar with HTML, and CSS
  • Familiar and comfortable with the technologies, the tradeoffs, and the design patterns emerging in web applications
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You have a bias towards action and results
  • Proven problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively both independently as well and within a team using Agile methodology.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.  Ability to articulate our technical integration details.
