Fueled by a fundamental belief that having access to financial services creates opportunity, PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) is committed to democratizing financial services and empowering people and businesses to join and thrive in the global economy. Our open digital payments platform gives PayPal’s 244 million active account holders the confidence to connect and transact in new and powerful ways, whether they are online, on a mobile device, in an app, or in person. Through a combination of technological innovation and strategic partnerships, PayPal creates better ways to manage and move money, and offers choice and flexibility when sending payments, paying or getting paid. Available in more than 200 markets around the world, the PayPal platform, including Braintree, Venmo and Xoom enables consumers and merchants to receive money in more than 100 currencies, withdraw funds in 56 currencies and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in 25 currencies.

You are responsible for building and managing all relationships with companies that supply products and services to the PayPal Global Safety and Security Department, GS&S. This requires working with key vendors to ensure that they meet or exceed their contractual obligations by delivering quality products and services on time. This is a highly visible role that reports directly to the GS&S Senior Director of Governance, Security Technology & EHS and will work closely with leaders across multiple functions within GS&S to ensure vendor expectations are met or exceeded.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Play a leading role in building and refining the GS&S Department vendor management model to ensure a consistent, transparent, and efficient approach to the way the strategic suppliers deliver value to the business.
  • Primary responsibility for the supplier relationship with our strategic suppliers. Partner with Sourcing, Legal and the business managers to drive consistency and efficiency. Identify ways to use Sourcing more strategically to augment the internal capabilities, increase flexibility, and access new skills.
  • Manage the day-to-day relationship and coordinate all Quarterly Business Review meetings with GS&S business managers and vendors.
  • Evaluate ways to leverage the vendor management model with other key suppliers across the enterprise.
  • Support contract/SOW negotiations, working with the enterprise business functions by reviewing contracts and statements of work, and purchase requests to ensure they meet needs of the organization, adhere to business standards, protect business assets, and comply with existing master services agreements.
  • Ensure the full GSS portfolio of vendors is known and effectively managed in compliance with all PayPal Policies and all contracts are managed in a manner that aligns with GS&S Department Strategy.
  • Manage, negotiate and execute all vendor spend requests against Safety & Security Vendor Strategy, Budget and PP firm wide procurement processes.
  • Develop – in conjunction with Sourcing, Legal, and business managers – annual strategic suppliers’ goals for productivity, attrition, and delivering additional value.
  • Serve as the initial escalation point for all disputes; support appropriate audits
  • Define (in conjunction with t business partners) a consistent set of metrics to track strategic supplier performance against stated objectives. Benchmark the cost, performance and efficiency of vendors; monitor and report on service levels.

    Your Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive work experience with increased responsibility, preferably within vendor management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to tailor message to various audiences
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated understanding of business challenges and opportunities, always seeking to understand the business objectives before looking for a specific solution
  • Proven ability to accomplish goals through influence across the enterprise, rather than direct line management control (negotiation and collaboration)

    Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with vendor management
  • Proven success in building strong working relationships and working credibly with senior and executive leaders
  • Ability to visualize problems, ask the right questions and find the right inputs; ability to monitor and review vendor’s financial and operational performance
  • Demonstrated ability to bring together individuals with different perspectives and opinions, and drive toward a common goal
  • Capability to be proactive and seek out solutions to issues without waiting to be told
  • Demonstrated creativity with ability to think of new ways to bring more insight into the relationships and drive additional value to the business.
  • Ability to translate contractual requirements in a meaningful way to ensure key stakeholders understand their contractual obligations
