User Experience Designer Global Data Science The payments space has never been more promising. In a world that is slowly opening up to commerce again, customers choose to avoid cash transactions, and are favoring contactless and digital payment methods. Online purchases have taken a massive adoption to replace traditionally on-premise transactions. Innovation is rampant and the opportunities ahead of us are endless. In order to support all of the new flows, the global data science group is hard at work providing risk, marketing, credit and seller models and solutions, and are using increased amounts of tools and data. PayPal is looking for a User Experience Designer with an emphasis on user experience to join our Global Data Science team and help us unleash the power of our internal tools for the benefit of our developer and data science communities. The ideal candidate should possess passion for user productivity, simplifying exceptionally complex problems to intuitive solutions and visual and interaction design skills. User Experience Designers at PayPal are generalists with a mastery in all stages of user experience design. In this role you will work as the single designer, having full authority for the global data science tools - conceiving, designing and evolving experiences that will enable the data science community at PayPal create solutions for 300 million active customers in 200 countries.

  • Are able to clearly articulate your design concepts to internal cross-functional teams and leadership

  • Are prepared to do the best work of your life
  • Constantly want to explore new things, as most of what we do have never done before at this scale

Your toolkit should include:

  • Creating final design visuals and assets
  • Defining complex design interactions and flows
  • Designing experiences for application-specific contexts: UI controls, iconography, device resolution, typography, color, layout, etc.
  • Responsive design
  • Designing within the confines of a design language and patterns while knowing how to innovate within and evolve them
  • Being equally comfortable (and geek out on) solving both tactical and blue-sky design problems      
  • The ability to work with and help influence engineering teams and product managers to champion the best experiences for our customers
  • Leading and supporting design ideation sessions 
  • Working in Lean UX environments

You’ve done this before:

  • Have 2+ years experience working on live web and/or native applications for major brands
  • Have a portfolio that reflects everything above
  • Degree in a design or design related field preferred
