We do this by diving deep on design challenges at scale, partnering with our product design and engineering teams to promote reuse and efficiencies of scale. Our global PayPal-wide design system includes design principles, UX styles, guidelines, patterns, libraries and code. The ideal candidate is an all-around designer with both interaction and visual design skills and an aptitude for design systems and thinking holistically. He/She will thrive in a fast-paced work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. This individual should have a passion for empathizing with the needs and behaviors of people, the business and how to solve for them through design.

Responsibilities:

  • Specify core UX, visual, interaction, and motion elements, create prototypes, document usage guidelines and create libraries for design teams to use.
  • Partner with design, engineering and product management team members in the execution and delivery of successful products and services, using a customer-focused, iterative design process. 
  • Contribute to the creation of high quality deliverables on a work stream with minimal oversight and guidance, managing his/her own work to a larger schedule. 
  • Leverage and foster the use of established UX techniques, templates, presentations, and assets in the creation of UX analysis, solutions and materials. 
  • Contribute to the adaptation of PayPal UX tools, methodology and software. 
     

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years experience. 
  • Bachelors Degree in the study of design including one of the following; Design, Information Architecture, Human Factors or equivalent project/portfolio experience.
  • Sound understanding of UX methodology and lifecycle across key channels and platforms, with familiarity in areas of web, mobile web and native mobile design. 
  • Customer-focused, with understanding of design research methods to uncover customer insights. 
  • Strong attention to detail and craft; ability to write carefully.
  • Effectively operates within an iterative design team, managing UX responsibilities against defined milestones and plan. 
  • General awareness of technology mediums (Javascript, HTML/CSS, platform UIs, etc.) including differences between them.
