You will work on internal tools used by thousands of PayPal developers to manage their applications across the software development lifecycle. Help us make the entire application pipeline self service and DevOps ready, to radically improve the experience and productivity of all developers. Many of the tools you work on will also be open sourced, which means your work will be seen outside of PayPal and represent the inclusivity and diversity that PayPal strives for.  Research and creativity will be crucial for these new end-to-end interfaces.  You will be creating a visual identity for our platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop design wireframes, mockups, and specifications
  • Define interaction models, user task flows, and UI specifications
  • Evaluate UX success or failure objectively
  • Gather and evaluate user requirements with product managers and engineers
  • Define a visual identity for our new platform
  • Consulting with customers to understand their goals
  • Conducting usability testing
  • Creating wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps, screen flows and prototypes
  • Developing personas and usage scenarios
  • Analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to enhance UX
  • Find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, findability)
  • Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers
  • Keep abreast of competitor products and industry trends
  • Illustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
  • Build page navigation buttons and search fields
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
  • Responsive to UX issues and tracking them effectively

Skills:

  • Design: sketching, concept creation, wireframes, user flows, clickable prototypes
  • Usability testing sessions and delivers artifacts for testing.
  • Design Specification - Delivers appropriate level of specification needed to ensure high quality development on time with development and product teams
  • Data interpretation - document data from analytics sources in a consumable way
  • Best practice and design consistency - Researching and sharing industry trends, competitors, and comparable experiences.
  • Driving and documenting design standards and patterns
  • Proficient in key software packages such as Axure and Photoshop.
  • Sound knowledge of web and mobile technologies.
  • Collaborates as appropriate on creating user stories to define development tasks.
  • Plans own work executing against deadlines.
  • Finds ways to maximize the efficiency in an agile process.
  • Working in a team - Collaborating with visual designers, developers, product owners, marketing, and content managers to define product experience and champion the user.

Requirements:

  • Strong portfolio of design projects
  • Background in project management and research
  • UX design experience in technical software products
  • Proficient in design software (e.g. UXPin, Balsamiq)
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS; JavaScript is a plus
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • Analytical mind with a business acumen
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BSc in Design, UX, UI, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
