PayPal is seeking a Functional Systems Manager to join its Finance Operating Model (FOM) organization within Finance. The person in this position will work closely with SAP and other technical teams and the functional teams within Treasury to ensure that Finance application activities are aligned and managed in accordance with PayPal’s and Finance’s strategy as well as planned and prioritized in the most efficient manner in to achieve optimal usage of resources and deliver maximum business benefit.

As a primary responsibility, this position will provide governance and management of the SAP ECC and other Treasury system demand pipelines, such as Quantum, and act as primary partner for Treasury business functions to capture, structure, and prioritize business demand and align this demand with IT technical development and supply capabilities and capacity.  This position will work closely with Treasury functional teams in the overall documentation of business requirements, system functional specifications, technical design review, and delivery of system enhancements and projects.  This position will facilitate regular communication channels and forums to align on planned activities in the day to day operations between Treasury, FOM, and PayPal technical teams.

Responsibilities:

The scope of responsibilities will include:

  • Review and document Treasury processes, enhancement requirements and functional specifications relevant to SAP operational and reporting environments, including other key Treasury applications used such as Quantum.
  • Facilitate communication between Treasury, FOM, and technical teams regarding Treasury operational, reporting, and compliance related system processes.
  • Provide advice and propose solutions for new Treasury operational and reporting capabilities utilizing SAP and ancillary systems, with the goal of eliminating pain points and increasing efficiency / effectiveness. 
  • Work closely with FOM teams to ensure appropriate budgeting, tracking, change management, and process controls requirements are met in a timely manner
  • Manage the relationships between Treasury, Finance & Accounting functions, and other IT & Compliance teams with respect to overall SAP and ancillary system management (projects, system enhancement requests, availability and disaster recovery requirements, capacity requirements, SOX requirements, etc.)
  • Develop, define and maintain the overall Treasury demand management structure and process as required to support SAP/Quantum and other ancillary system enhancement priorities and timelines as aligned with technical and financial budget capacity.
  • Work with key business leaders to develop and maintain a project and enhancement roadmap aligned with business priority, IT capacity, technical dependencies and FOM portfolio requirements.
  • Develop and maintain required system and process documentation, end-user training materials using standard department tools and storage mediums.

Create transparency about upcoming initiatives, current demand pipeline, IT change execution performance, capacity situation via operational KPIs and periodic business reviews.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.   Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or related field is preferred.
  • 10 years background in IT related job roles.
  • 10 years of experience with financial applications, processes, and systems.  SAP experience required and Quantum experience preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in business facing responsibilities including business requirements gathering and documentation, functional design and system analysis, configuration requirements and process understanding, training and support, and system enhancement identification.
  • Prior experience in release management with exposure to IT operations management and good knowledge of IT governance processes, including the software development life cycle.
  • Aptitude for trouble shooting, root cause analysis, and process pain point identification.
  • Ability to work in an advisory capacity with key business partners.
  • Strong communication skills as this is a business-facing position, requiring periodic business reviews, training sessions, and regular interaction with the business.
  • Good written skills with the ability to produce clear and concise process related documentation.
  • Affinity for a high-performance, project-oriented work environment; ability to pivot to critical path tasks as necessary.
