The Transaction Expense Accounting Manager will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for Transaction Expense activities. This role will be a key member on the Corporate Controllership team to support critical accounting operations and financial statement reporting for PayPal. The position is based in San Jose HQ and will report directly to the Transaction Loss and Expense Senior Accounting Manager.

The primary responsibilities include day-to-day corporate accounting operations and financial reporting activities and driving global initiatives to enhance accounting processes, reporting and controls.  Ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and is willing to dive into the details while still maintaining an understanding of the big picture.  Duties include but may not be limited to the following:

  • Review worldwide Transaction Expense activities for PayPal and its subsidiaries to ensure results are complete and accurate. Collaborate across functions and analyze large amounts of data (using Essbase and Teradata) to develop an understanding of how business initiatives and other operational activities impact financial results
  • Identify opportunities and champion process improvement efforts to drive efficiency and effectiveness within the Transaction Expense process, including leading the Transaction Expense automation project.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance the internal control environment, and simplify and streamline end-to-end processes.
  • Prepare presentation and/or reporting packages that include financial statement results fluctuation analysis that will be distributed to members of Senior Management
  • Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries as part of the monthly close process
  • Review, update, and maintain accounting policies, process documentation, and procedures related to Transaction Expense
  • Ensure SOX compliance through execution and implementation of internal controls
  • Support external audit process by preparing and providing PBCs on a timely basis
  • Develop Transaction Expense and Transaction Loss cross training materials as we seek to combine the roles/responsibilities once Transaction Expense automation is complete and
  • Provide career pathing and development opportunities with Transaction Margin team
