Threat Management proactively protects PayPal from on-going and emerging threats through data-driven decisions based on cyber intelligence data, data analytics, and threat assessments. The organization consists of multi-disciplinary subject matter experts with a broad spectrum of industry experiences and deep analytical and quantitative expertise.
Threat Management is seeking an engineer to build and maintain Splunk content, including both visual elements such as dashboards, and non-visual elements such as parsing configurations. This position will not be responsible for administration of the Splunk application.
Key responsibilities include:
Implement Splunk content: Create and maintain Splunk visual content, including dashboards, panels, and other elements to visualize data. Build and maintain non-visual elements such as search macros, parsing, field extraction and related.
Extend Splunk: Implement and maintain Splunk extensions such as custom search commands, integrations or applications. Build and maintain data enrichment, such as lookups.
Curate Splunk Data: Facilitate ingestion and parsing of new data into Splunk. Maintain inventory and monitoring of threat management data availability. Develop best practices and standards for threat management data in Splunk.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation on threat management content and data in Splunk. Develop training course and materials for content and data utilization.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Natural Sciences or equivalent experience
Proficiency with Splunk search language
3+ years experience with Splunk
Excellent, concise verbal and written communication
Preferred: Knowledge of information security and/or networking concepts
Preferred: Experience with Python3
Preferred: Experience with regular expressions
Preferred: Experience with Splunk Enterprise Security
