We are currently seeking an Acceptable Use Policy/Terms Of Service Investigator to ensure our service is not utilized to process payments that may be categorized as illegal, violating our terms of service or damaging to the Xoom/PayPal brand. The position will be located in our Guatemala office.

As a Terms of Service Investigator, you will be a member of PayPal’s Global Financial Crimes and Compliance Investigations Organization (GFCCI) tasked with ensuring that activity within the PayPal system is compliant with Anti-Money Laundering regulations and guidelines as well as PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).  PayPal’s AUP dictates the type of commerce activity that PayPal permits its users to engage in on the company’s platform.  You will exercise independent judgment and discretion handling highly sensitive casework, take appropriate action on violating accounts and develop and prepare timely suspicious activity reports to Regulatory agencies, as necessary. 

In this role, you will investigate customer activity across multiple platforms to ensure that it falls within acceptable parameters established by governing bodies including, but not limited to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Your efforts will be conducted in accordance to PayPal’s Ethics and Compliance Standards, and our obligations under all appropriate regulations, such as the Bank Secrecy and USA PATRIOT Acts, and governing authorities.

It will be critical for you to stay current with policy changes, seek ways to enhance current processes and controls, be able to effectively communicate and maintain utmost professionalism in your interaction with our customers and partners at all times. Brand Risk Management Investigators will be subject to material which some may consider offensive in performing the essential job duties of this position.


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work independently while monitoring and researching customer accounts and activity for Terms of Service (TOS) and/or Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) violations
  • Resolve internal and external escalations meeting SLAs
  • Review highly confidential information and sensitive materials while maintaining security and complying with federal and state regulations at all times
  • Identify trends in suspicious behavior and make recommendations for monitoring these activities
  • Perform investigations of suspicious activity, customer behavior or trends
  • Where necessary, coordinate with our customer verification and legal teams to ensure leads are handled efficiently and investigation results are appropriately communicated
  • Make recommendations and take action on accounts for Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR), referrals to law enforcement, and other AML/BSA compliance activity.
  • Perform various compliance/customer verification tasks as needed

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and investigative skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Internet search techniques required
  • AML/BSA monitoring and screening experience preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree require
