At PayPal, the Technical Product quality team has a key role in the global delivery of high quality payment experiences. To guarantee the highest quality the team must make sure that the product meets the local End-to-End requirements. These requirements could cover legal, cultural and customer perspectives. The Technical product quality team have a solid understanding of the main principles behind quality assurance, quality engineering and in general software development that enables them to accurately assess, recommend, and drive improvements in the product’s development.

The Technical Product Quality role is based on these key principles - Live site quality, Internal Partnerships and Knowledge Sharing

The umbrella of responsibilities as the Technical Product Quality member involve the following:

  • Customer first approach – Being the contact person in the country means to understand the local market in-depth, provide customer experience and insights into each product development
  • Live site quality: Deep dive and follow up on live issues for the local market and drive to closure, reporting and monitoring of the live site for issues, Test Plans & Test Cases – analysis, review, and quality improvements to meet all local requirements – legal, cultural and customers
  • Lead employee testing globally – Coordinate, analyse and monitor the employee testing to ensure high quality product releases.
  • Testing Process – analysis, review, and quality improvements in the test execution
  • Automation – Define, review, failure analysis of key workflows for the local market
  • Product Quality Management – Overall Product Quality Monitoring, Reporting, Follow –up with our internal partners
  • Communication Quality Management – maintain a continuous communication flow with key stakeholders on all aspects of quality and our role in the country
  • Scalability Quality Management – support team initiatives to improve the country scope scalability
  • Process Management – Defining and improving processes to delivery high quality for the local market
  • Flexibility and adaptability – Adapting to new situations and challenges is a must

This opportunity in particular has a key focus on Japan. The role requires the person to be able to assess products from a local customer’s perspective, based on what’s the standard and accepted in market.

At the core of this role is the unique challenge of tackling the complexity of PayPal’s ecommerce payment services that will serve as a key business platform for thousands of unique merchants and customers. Our applications must be fault tolerant and highly available in every supported language and locale. This role has a unique opportunity to provide quality leadership to our Technical Product Quality teams located globally.

We are seeking an individual looking for an international challenge that is passionate about delivering high quality products. The candidate must have an understanding of the software development life cycle with a solid experience in quality assurance, quality engineering and/or testing background. Job Requirements

  • Fluency in Native Japanese with business English skills.
  • Based in Tokyo, Japan
  • 5+ years of in a fast-paced software industry with an excellent understanding of Quality Assurance principles
  • 5+ years’ experience assessing, defining, and building test collateral material (Test Plans, Test Cases, Manual/Automation Testing, Test Reports, etc.)
  • Familiarity in programming languages like javascript
  • Familiarity with APIs and SDK’s, including, but not limited to, technical concepts such as REST and Oauth
  • Past experience in global companies working with international stakeholders is a plus
  • Engineering background is a plus
  • Experience in Bug filing tools like Jira
  • Familiarity with Agile principles
