PayPal Global Data Science (GDS) Organization delivers data science based solutions to majority of the organizations within PayPal. We are seeking for a highly motivated and talented technical product manager to join the product team of our horizontal solutions. As a Technical Product Manager in GDS you will get a unique opportunity to be part of a new team that is driving GDS horizontal products to success while shaping the product organization and functionality by setting the right processes and relationships withing GDS and across the various organizations. The scope of GDS is a non-traditional organization. It is global and its data science based products serve an on going growing array of functions including Risk, Business and Operations. The number of products GDS is building is large, solving various type of problems for many different, hence, we are looking for an individual who is eager to learn complex environments, like to be part of a new team and feels comfortable working in cross-functional teams with a very high degree of product management skills.

What does Success Look Like?  

In your role as a Technical product manager, you will:

  • Embedding product organization within GDS – work with the team to define methods, processes and deliverables, and educate the data science and engineering teams accordingly.
  • Portfolio Ownership -  develop a product strategy for the area of ownership, define and manage the portfolio with the GDS leadership team and stakeholders, and representing the product to stakeholders and to peers across PayPal.
  • Driving product vision and strategy and creating capabilities that data science teams can leverage to have a direct impact on PayPal risk, operations and business decisions.
  • Evangelizing product roadmap internally and externally in informal and formal settings
  • Working cross-functionally and build strong relationships with key internal and external customers (data engineers, software engineers, product analytics and other business teams) that will allow understand the gaps and build the right solutions.
  • Define and measure key performance indicators to evaluate and understand product value
  • Identifying new opportunities based on research, industry trends and best practices, driving innovation.

  • Passion to product manager role with at least 3 years of experience as a product manager
  • A ‘can do’ spirit combined with high energies and positive attitude
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • Ability to drive people
  • Self Starter which doesn’t hesitate to proactively approach in order to learn fast
  • Machine learning and big data analytics experience
  • Skilled at working with cross functional groups and matrix organizations in multiple geographies to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Tech savvy which loves to stay on top of industry trends
