The Instrumentation Solution team seeks a top-performing, highly motivated analytics expert to join a center of excellence at PayPal that is at the heart of driving data-driven decision-making. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple business/engineering groups, use your knowledge and experience to elevate the quality of tracking & instrumentation across the company. Help data engineers build scalable platforms that produce business metrics and enable monitoring on those metrics. You will wear several different hats, but you will wear consistently that of a leader. Strong behavioral analytics knowledge, experience with SQL, and a desire to drive positive change are key to be successful in this role.

  • Partner closely with other Product Managers to understand new product offerings being built, and work with analysts to recommend the right metrics to measure the performance of those features
  • Provide strategic and tactical guidance on specific data elements that need to be tracked in order to enable tracking of metrics and assess user behavior
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams, provide ongoing support to help instrument tracking elements
  • Collaborate with data platform teams to build/enhance necessary data platforms to provide metrics & business insights and in building, alerts to monitor those metrics
  • Develop a strong understanding of the PayPal tracking infrastructure; Identify and act upon opportunities for simplicity, consistency, and re-usability of tracking code
  • Train and provide expert consultation to product management, engineering, analytics, and other teams on tracking standards, tools, and processes
  • Document best practices for data tracking, and maintain documentation for self-service use
  • Set and build tracking platform and engineering tools to stand par ahead of industrial expectations.
  • Seamlessly blend across Product, Engineering, and Analytics to provide a clear, unified voice on data and instrumentation.
  • Ensure Quality - best practices to drive efficient behavioral tracking and enabling powerful analytics.
  • Operational Excellence - Deliver on all commitments with no business disruption.
  • Communicate effectively to instill confidence, as well as build trust and strengthen partnerships

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering (Masters or MBA preferred but not required) discipline with a strong quantitative aptitude
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience. At least 2-3 years of analytical experience in a business context, focused on web, mobile, or product analytics
  • Strong SQL skills required
  • Experience working with User Data Behavior data & tools like Google Analytics, Amplitude, or Adjust is required
  • Experience working with Hadoop, Apache Spark, and big data technology preferred but not required
  • Solid understanding of behavioral analytics concepts with respect to UX design, data tracking, AB testing, API, and metrics
  • Understanding of service-oriented architecture, data flows in multi-tier systems, event tracking, and relational data structures
  • Previous experience working with Product Managers & Analysts in designing and driving data tracking for business metrics
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes effectively without direct authority
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and skilled at adjusting communication style/vocabulary to your audience's role/function and technical familiarity
  • Self-starter, driven, strong relationship builder, passionate about learning and making a difference
  • Familiarity with the Payments ecosystem or PayPal's tracking and experimentation platform is highly desired.
