The Product & Technology, China team is looking for a strong technologist to join the team in Beijing Our mission is to deliver a secure, rapidly scalable, and resilient infrastructure foundation that enables PayPal China Products and Services. To do this, we focus on delivering our Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and empowering our internal teams with the technical capabilities they need, when they need it, to make the very best products for our customers. We apply software engineering principles to the design, delivery, and operation of one of the largest hybrid cloud infrastructures in the world. Every day we drive closer toward our vision of a seamless and frictionless infrastructure as a competitive advantage helping PayPal China win. As System Engineer, your responsibility is • Monitoring and managing all installed systems and infrastructure • Establish, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools • The Setting, installing testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools • Evaluate the existing systems and provide the technical direction to IT support staff. • Oversee the development of customized software and hardware requirement. • Plan and implement systems automation as required for better efficiency. • Formulate and design the security system in place to maintain data safety. • Oversee the constant availability of technical resources. • Maintain and supervise the inventory. • Timely reporting on the log sheet for the rapid response to any glitches • Provide oncall support as required by our oncall schedule.

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • More than 3 years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure required.
  • Good communication skills in Chinese and English
  • Solid understanding and expertise in operating system building including Linux and Window.
  • Experience as a Strong VMWare systems administrator to implement and support the systems in the environment
  • Understand the infrastructure at the network, load balancers (F5 Big IP), security, and storage layers.
  • Experience with configuration management including puppet, ansible or chef.
  • Skill in performing routine operations tasks and their automation. Routine tasks include system monitoring, reviewing system and application logs, and production support
  • Experience with system monitoring tools
  • Experience with backup tools
  • Knowledge of network switches, routers and firewalls and operating a VPN a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, be able to interpret and discuss information with both tech and non-tech decision makers
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Flexibility to work in a fast paced, and high-pressure environment interacting with cross functional teams
