PayPal is looking for someone to join the business operations and strategy function for our global bank partnership team. This role will be responsible for ensuring we are building and maintaining effective operational systems to deliver and scale successful programs, and for understanding and reporting out the impact of this work. Beyond this, the position would help to identify and explore new strategic opportunities to maximize the value of our partnerships.

PayPal is looking for a proactive and experienced individual to join its Global Bank Partnership team as a Business Operations and Strategy Manager. PayPal is partnering with the financial ecosystem to improve the way we serve our customers and to bring new experiences and features to market. The Business Operations and Strategy Manager would help to manage the operational cadence of this global program, including tracking and monitoring performance, as well as reporting out to senior leadership and to relevant internal and external audiences. This involves having detailed understanding of the core dynamics and metrics that drive business success, as well as supporting product, finance and analytics teams as they define and track core KPIs. You would also be responsible for managing and updating the material and resources that the team relies on to be successful, such as: sales collateral, partner analysis and research into ecosystem trends.

The successful candidate would also play a core role in helping the team to refine and develop its strategy, and to explore ways to maximize its impact. This involves grappling with difficult questions around scaling, opportunity identification and prioritization, and how best to enter new markets and partnerships. As part of this team, you would have to be comfortable in managing through ambiguity and with interpreting and synthesizing data from multiple sources. You should be able to clearly articulate and defend your recommendations in front of leadership, and then drive any follow-on execution with cross-functional teams.  

The role will help you build relationships and experience across the organization and expose you to executive decision making and core operational and strategic questions within the company.

This role will be located at PayPal headquarters in San Jose, CA.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will drive the operational cadence for the group, measure and track critical initiatives, and prepare the content for leadership and business reviews
  • Support the Product, Analytics and Finance team to define program and financial KPIs and then report out progress against targets
  • Develop and maintain the operational infrastructure needed to track and share up-to-date program information on the status of our partner pipeline and product and marketing roadmaps
  • Collaborate closely with global and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth working rhythms and information sharing
  • Own the content management process for the global team, including maintaining sales materials, process documentation, partner analysis and external research
  • You will provide insights to the business through analytics and market research as required (e.g. market, customer, competitive), and use this to inform the organization of their strategic implications.
  • You will help to inform and shape the product roadmap, working with cross-functional teams to outline the business requirements, rationale, and execution plans to achieve success

This role will report to the Head of Business Operations and Strategy for the Bank Partnership program

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail—ability to design and maintain operational processes
  • Superior communication skills—written and verbal; and ability to design and deliver material for executive audiences
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with ability to put complex ideas into clear frameworks
  • Comfort in using and interrogating data and being able to distill actionable findings
  • Ability to work with and navigate cross-functional and global teams
  • Self-starter who enjoys working in a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative environment
  • Appetite to learn and adapt quickly and comfortable with uncertainty
  • Interest and experience in payments and banking ecosystem

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in a variety of strategic, analytical and operational roles
  • Evidence of progressive career development with increasing job scope and responsibility
  • MBA or other relevant graduate degree a plus
  • International experience a plus
