The Strategic Sourcing Manager is accountable for developing, managing and executing the sourcing strategy for IT procurement categories (such as Hardware, Software, Cloud based solutions, Storage, Telecom and IT related Professional Services) in North America. This individual will work closely with business units to manage sourcing strategies that drive significant value and impact for the BU operations and profitability. They will set the direction for the category area, building both, short/medium and long-term opportunities to drive sourcing excellence. The lead will possess excellent sourcing, stakeholder management and team building.

PayPal Procurement oversees over $1Billion in global spend of indirect services and products, supporting all business units within the company. With staff currently located in four countries around the world, we partner closely with the business teams to minimize risk and maximize value through Strategic Sourcing and Vendor Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the BUs and senior leadership to understand strategic direction, demand requirements and business objectives and priorities. Drive thought leadership in the category providing market and industry intelligence, trends, innovation and best practices.
  • Drive analysis of category spend to identify opportunities to reduce total category spend utilizing all savings levers. Develop business cases to substantiate opportunities and prioritization.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies and plans.
  • Develop supplier negotiation strategies that reflect and maximize PayPal’s buying power, focus on service quality/performance, and minimize risk exposure.
  • Assist BUs manage in-category strategic supplier relationships.
  • Interact with all levels of management, including senior management, and stakeholders including Finance, Legal, Accounting, and suppliers to ensure strategic direction, operational and quality goals are achieved.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor´s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related discipline; Advanced degree preferred
  • 3-5 years in a procurement role, preferably with IT hardware and software category expertise
  • Superior analytical ability to quickly gather facts, perform root cause analysis and draw conclusions
  • Strong conceptual thinking skills with adeptness to lead others through ambiguous and/or complex issues.
  • Extensive experience managing change across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Superior negotiation skills to influence senior leadership on strategic direction, business case value proposition and sourcing recommendations.
  • Strong contract/vendor negotiation preparation and execution skills to achieve desired outcomes from supplier negotiations.
  • Ability to build consensus and act as an independent arbiter to achieve sourcing outcomes that meet business requirements without sacrificing service or increasing risk/cost
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently and knowledge of business requirement and project management principles and methodology
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with team members and stakeholders including senior management
