What you'll be doing

  • Craft solutions and implement consumer-focused features on PayPal iOS app
  • Research independently, create prototypes and improve existing features
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers and backend engineers to conceptualize and build features
  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews and offer insight with proper reasoning
  • Taking full responsibility for the quality of your and your team's software, writing unit, integration and functional tests.  
  • Experiments to push the boundaries of app capabilities and to leverage new paradigms in client-server interaction and data syncing
  • Anticipate issues that could happen in the production environment and advocating for changes that will result in fewer issues that impact customers
  • Anchoring a sustained and dedicated iOS engineering team


Basic qualification

  • 5+ years of experience with XCode, Swift, UI development, Cocoa and combine Frameworks
  • Lead by example, the best practices in concurrency/multithreading, design patterns/architecture and RESTful APIs
  • Have designed and built client-side integration with REST APIs
  • An eye for the beautiful design and attention to detail to create delightful mobile experience
  • Strong dedication to code quality and focus on automation and operational excellence: unit/integration tests, scripts, workflows
  • Experience deploying apps used by a broad audience
  • Can take and give constructive criticism in the form of code reviews and pair programming
  • A bias for continuous improvement, growth and innovative thinking
  • Well versed in git and agile in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be proficient in speaking, writing, and reading in English, in a business and technical environment


Nice to have

  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
  • Familiarity with GraphQL APIs
  • Basic understanding of Fastlane
  • Familiarity with Objective-C
  • Push notifications feature integrations
  • Familiarity with unix environment, Python scripting and Java
  • Experience with advanced Swift capabilities like Generics, Protocols, Collections, Encoding / Decoding Graphs, Memory Management
  • Experience with Instruments and other debugging tools
  • Experience with CocoaPods and creating independent frameworks (Modules)


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
