The Consumer Onboarding Engineering team is looking for a highly talented, self-driven staff iOS Mobile Engineer to take on the challenges of leading the mobile engineering team. In this role you will be working with a team of engineers and help design, develop, and test the PayPal Mobile Consumer App for iOS. At PayPal, we work together on small, collaborative teams. We’re passionate about code quality and constantly – some might say, obsessively – finding new ways to perfect our product with continuous A/B testing to deliver a world class consumer experience. We work closely with our design, content, and product teams to build, test, and iterate on new solutions to customers’ problems. And we meet with our customers every week to make sure we’re giving them the app they expect and the experiences they deserve. But it doesn’t stop there. We have dedicated teams to support our Continuous Integration, Quality and Release processes. All this results in your code being published in an update to the App Store at least once in every 3 weeks.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable, resilient mobile application, mobile SDK, framework/common library and restful services
  • Lead and participate in producing deliverables (including architecture, technical design, code development, and QA) to high quality standards
  • Work closely with Product Management, User Experience Design, Analytics and other cross functional & vertical development teams to meet business requirements.
  • Take ownership of the solution from end to end and be responsible for translating functional requirements into a mobile solution.
  • Develop mobile application prototypes and functional test automation
  • Enforce sound development practices and ensure the quality delivery of mobile solutions including, but not limited to, technical design and code reviews.
  • Act as a technical advisor to application development teams to plan, implement, and support new and existing mobile applications.
  • Develops and communicates technical processes, standards, and best practices to the team
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, craft long-term technology strategy and vision for the team

Requirements:

  • At least 5+ years of iOS mobile application development experience
  • Proficient with mobile application development using Swift & Objective C for iOS
  • Strong understanding & experience with Design patterns and Data Structures
  • Experience in design and using RESTful APIs & connect mobile applications with back-end services; exposure to GraphQL is a plus
  • Demonstrable capability to use OS frameworks for multi-threading, data persistence, and adapting user interface across multiple screen sizes
  • Experience with developing custom UIs and animations
  • Experience with performance and memory usage tuning
  • Well versed with code versioning tools such as Git and CI/CD
  • Comfortable working in agile product development environment, building from scratch and continuously improving it
  • Highly analytical, innovative, and able to think strategically and to develop comprehensive detailed specifications
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to produce clear, concise communications and documentation
  • Highly effective at working in cross-functional groups and getting results in matrix organizations
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities
  • Experience with Android mobile application development is a plus
  • B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science
