The Global Design organization at PayPal is responsible for creating meaningful and cohesive end-to-end experiences through a deep understanding of our customers and exceptional design. We work in close partnership with business, product, and engineering teams to build the next generation of financial services products.

We are looking for highly experienced Senior Director of User Experience (UX) to join our Global Design Leadership team based in San Jose. You are a seasoned design leader with a passion for helping teams deliver against key customer outcomes. You will orchestrate designs at scale that translate user needs and business goals into intuitive, memorable experiences for millions of PayPal customers worldwide. You have extensive experience managing and growing matrixed, geographically distributed design and user research organizations and you are able to advance the discipline while also effectively integrating design and research into cross-functional teams. You are a key "thought leader," able to see the big picture and make the right calls for the company. You are also a highly effective team player, with a proven track record of forging great relationships and partnerships across functions.


The Senior Director, UX will be excited to take our team to the next level. With a great team of 70+ design and research professionals, you will lead delivering best in class and impactful user experiences across the PayPal consumer organizations, including Venmo and Xoom.


Responsibilities:

  • Orchestrate and help deliver superior, superbly crafted product experiences at scale
  • Set and achieve world-class customer experience outcomes and associated business results
  • Oversee and guide teams across a range of rapid and iterative user research and design methods, building a culture that support facilitation through design thinking exercises
  • Recruit/coach/mentor world-class design and research directors and practitioners
  • Conduct regular design reviews, elevating designs to world-class standards
  • Active in company-wide leadership initiatives that affect entire user experiences. Drives new experiences to support a continually evolving strategy
  • Recognized for building organization-wide empathy for customers. Drives organizational change to continually improve customer framing.
  • Delivers compelling presentations, creating empathy for our customer, to the most senior executives and the Board of Directors.
  • Leads others across PayPal in resolving significant cross-organizational conflict. Advocates understanding and empathy across PayPal.
  • Steps in to help others resolve high pressure situations and drives as “one team” to do what’s needed for PayPal and our customers.

Experience:

  • World-class design pedigree and reputation as a design executive
