Global Data Sciences is in charge of implementing best-of-breed data solutions using cutting-edge technologies and delivering data solutions that move the needle for the PayPal business. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Sr Technical product manager to join the Collections Data Team. As a Sr Product Manager, you will work with business groups and analysts to define product strategy through data-driven solutions in a rapidly changing environment. Job Description:

The Collections Data team's core charter is to build best-in-class data solutions to help bring value to the Collections business. We are looking for an individual who is eager to explore new data while also proficient enough in the Collections domain to support business stakeholders looking to leverage data in their last-mile solutions. 

The role will involve understanding business pain points and proposing to implement data solutions in a scalable and consistent way. 

The role will be responsible for collaborating with global stakeholders, domain leads, and data citizens across different Geos such as Americas, EMEA, and the Asia Pacific. Because the position requires engagement from geographically disbursed teams, the candidate must be a self-starter with strong leadership qualities, program management skills, analytical skills, and be comfortable working with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

  • Champion and create buy-in for Collections data solutions vision, internally and with key partners.
  • Ensure data vision and requirements are defined globally, with long-term and scalability in mind.
  • Partner closely with other business stakeholders and understand new collections product offerings built, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure proper integration of data components.
  • Maintain data product backlog, drive product roadmap, and own prioritization process of Collections data product solutions based on business value and customer impact.
  • Break down data platform vision to Epics, Features, and User Stories for engineers and analysts to deliver on features and capabilities successfully.
  • Ensure the team's scrum process as a product owner, owning the grooming and agile ceremonies.
  • Gain expertise in how data flows throughout the business and proactively engage with product/engineering teams to ensure proper data instrumentation.
  • Communicate and educate the team and other business stakeholders on new data products, platform launches, and feature releases.
  • Lead QA/UAT process to ensure data solutions meet business expectations.
  • Document best practices for data tracking and maintain documentation for self-service use.
  • Communicate product/program status, metrics, goals, and performance clearly to stakeholders throughout the organization, including impacted teams (internal and external) across geographic locations.
  • Define data product scope, capabilities, and KPI's for the team.
  • Develop an understanding of PayPal's products, data, and applications and the use of data for business decisions to collaborate with engineers and analysts to provide analytical thought leadership.
  • Create data strategies and programs for the long-term success of business teams and ensure engineering teams are positioned to deliver results.
  • Ability to translate business requirements and work with various levels of business stakeholders to create innovative solutions.
  • Quantifying the opportunities by continually assessing the needs of the customer, market trends, competitive opportunities, and threats.
  • Creating and managing global product roadmaps, prioritization, and constraints to ensure consistent execution of the product life-cycle process from concept to launch.
  • Articulate a clear strategy that will effectively capture customer attention and business value through efficient presentations.
  • Sharp business judgment, ability to see "big picture" and to prioritize.
  • Ability to drive collaboration & resolve the conflict between diverse stakeholder groups.

 

Job Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a Technical Product manager in the data domain
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Data related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated successful record in defining the data product vision, strategy and roadmap
  • Self-managed, driven, active relationship builder, passionate about learning and making a difference
  • Passion for understanding customer needs and turning insights into a compelling data solution solves essential challenges for stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and skilled at adjusting communication style/vocabulary to audience's role/function and technical familiarity
  • Excellent organization, time management, program management skills, and handling multiple priorities concurrently with minimal guidance.
  • Ability in working across time zones (we have teams in NA, EMEA, and APAC) 
  • Strong sense for visual design and presenting complex data in insightful and relevant business narratives.
  • Deep empathy and appreciation for user needs and the ability to create structure and drive progress in an ambiguous environment.
  • Able to understand technology and partner closely with engineering in defining solutions.
  • Excellent data analysis and insight skills that find complex solutions through data.
  • Good understanding of data instrumentation in the core product flow and can coordinate with partners on business pain points.
  • Experience with Agile development as a product owner for a scrum team, design thinking, and customer-centric approach is preferred.
