PayPal’s Risk platform engineering team is looking to add an experienced leader for Seller Risk team. Do you want to join the team that is on the journey to create a scalable platform.

  • Hiring, developing & retaining top talent and be responsible for the overall team structure.
  • Managing a rapidly evolving back-end technology on a diverse set of platforms ranging from Java, Rest, Big Data, Hadoop, ETL;
  • Facilitating and driving key technology decisions with senior technology stakeholders;
  • Work with product and design organizations in defining product roadmap.
  • Provide thought leadership to the broad org around web development.
  • Manage competing priorities.
  • Guide decisions on architecture and technical strategy.
  • Bring predictability to the team’s overall performance and delivery.
  • Coaching and mentoring individual contributors.
  • Create & enhance development processes to ensure the quality of products and code.
  • Responsible for establishing and enhancing the engineering discipline of the team.
  • Keep up to date on industry trends and technologies and apply them quickly to our products
  • Maintain a good balance between start-up mentality with rapid iteration and maturity of product features
  • Thrive in a fast-paced start-up like environment where features are rapidly developed and tested, change and experimentation
  • End to end ownership of features including design, coding, deployment, devops and support
  • Deep collaboration with cross functional engineering and product teams to evolve the reporting platform

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering career path
  • 5+ years of experience in managing direct reports and their careers 
  • Strong Design and Architecture exposure in building large scale internet applications
  • Strong People Management skills leading mid-size teams in a Product Development environment
  • Ability to work well with others, motivate other team members, and thrive in a dynamic and challenging work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong Java/Scala/AWS and JavaScript development skills (preferred React, Node, ES6+)
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and Lean Startup product iteration techniques
  • Experience in designing, implementing and maintaining high performance, high availability (24x7), large-scale web based software applications
  • Passion for building greatworld class products
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to grasp and convey complex product requirements or technical concepts
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, agile development environment
  • Ability to partner with business units, product management, project management and cross-functional teams to deliver business results with agility and quality;
  • Ability to motivate skilled back end engineers and get the best out of them
  • Experience building and managing highly effective engineering teams, conducting performance reviews, making compensation decisions and recruiting talent
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities
  • Proven results oriented person with focus on customer experience and delivering quality products
  • Solid knowledge of algorithms and design patterns
  • Solid knowledge of web services (REST XML/JSON)
  • Strong Agile skills and proven track record for product delivery
  • Entrepreneurial drive, demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated development team building and people management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
