PayPal's M&A Integration Management Office (IMO) team is responsible for ensuring the realization of the strategic vision and financial outcomes promised to our Board of Directors when we acquire a company. We continue to build on our integration playbooks and functional best practices to integrate companies, managing the cost and speed while maintaining flexibility needed to extract maximum value from each deal. The M&A IMO Program Manager will operate as the “horizontal” (cross-functional) Program Manager within IMO responsible for coordinating with the matrixed team of M&A points of contact (POCs) in planning and orchestrating diligence and integration activities for PayPal’s acquisition(s). In this role, you will be responsible for driving the operations, planning and execution of M&A activities from due diligence through deal execution and integration in an organized, disciplined and predictable fashion. You will be a critical partner to M&A POCs in managing dependencies, mitigating risks, resolving issues, and effectively communicating at all levels within PayPal and the acquired companies.

You should have experience leading M&A integration efforts, have proficiency with Smartsheet project management tools, possess stellar written and verbal communication skills, have demonstrated success influencing others where you don’t have authority, and be highly organized.

You are detail oriented, meticulous, customer-focused, and have a reputation for getting things done. Moreover, you love operating in a dynamic and demanding environment, think critically, act quickly, and partner naturally. Good judgment and team building skills are coveted. 

Job responsibilities include:

  • Act as a representative and ambassador for PayPal in discussions with potential acquirees
  • Support the development and presentation of findings and recommendations of a potential acquisition to leadership up to and including the senior executive level
  • Drive various functions throughout PayPal to develop high-level integration plans, integration budgets, and detailed integration plans in Smartsheet.
  • Using Smartsheet as the system of record, work directly with project leads and project managers to update milestones and tasks, surface issues and risks, develop risk mitigation plans, and resolve issues in a timely and cross-functional manner.
  • Organize and drive “walk-the-wall” interdependency workshops for workstreams in order to surface dependencies and pressure-test timelines
  • Facilitate retrospectives to extract lessons learned from various functions and workstreams at critical junctures of the diligence and integration phases
  • Maintain and update the IMO integration playbook based on best practices from previous engagements as well as lessons learned at PayPal
  • Communicate with teams across PayPal and acquired companies to socialize, validate, and refine integration plans
  • Drive the end-to-end efforts to execute the integration plan, working with and through functional teams to prioritize and deliver outcomes

Job Description:

  • 6-10 years of program/project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading M&A diligence and integration programs, preferably in financial technology
  • Literate in payments, web platform and infrastructure concepts and terminology
  • Strong project management full life cycle experience in large scale projects leveraging different methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
  • Comfortable working with diverse teams in multiple locations.
  • Ability to influence where you do not have direct authority through strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
