The Product Portfolio Launch Management team serves as the all-important connective tissue across the PayPal enterprise to ensure full product readiness for our global launches. Our charter is to (1) develop best practices & tools to lead and enhance how we launch products; 2) implements those best practices, leading the most complex launches to ensure we delight our customers and achieve business results and outcomes and (3) ensure communications with and support regional stakeholders As a senior member of the team, you will lead and partner with a cross-functional cast of collaborators, influencers and contributors from Product, Engineering, Program Management, Analytics, Product Marketing, Go-to-Market, Operations, Risk and Public Relations, to name a few. And you will drive the efforts towards a common goal: launch high-quality, relevant product capabilities globally across all PayPal markets.

As the owner of one or more product launches, you will be the one of, Launch leader to own and oversee the breadth of launches within a group of countries or region. 

You will create and execute against a holistic launch plan to ensure a successful market launch for new product capabilities, enable country rollouts, lead testing activities (alpha, beta, pilots) and conduct end to end experience reviews; lead the cross-functional regional teams; provide strategic and tactical expertise; be responsible for horizontal and executive communications, as well as senior-level presentations.

At a more detailed level, your scope of work:

  • Launch strategy: define geographic scope, detailed timing, ramp and analytics plan; define roles and responsibilities and align resources to support; determine communication forums and cadences
  • Launch execution:
    • Build and implement against a recommended launch plan that is structured, disciplined, yet ‘smartly’ flexible to absorb changes
    • Drive and disseminate the Launch framework and discipline across launches and across the organization
    • Create and manage clear Gating Criteria with business partners
    • Manage pilots and beta; ensures feedback is acted on by working team
    • Identify and mobilize launch working team
    • Understand needs and requirements for product rollouts in tight partnership with our U.S. Product Portfolio Launch Team
    • Lead regional partners and teams across multiple geographies
  • Cross-functional/organizational leadership & influence:
    • Identify key stakeholders and lead multiple projects
    • Provide oversight on all product launches for a given region
    • Be open, honest, and direct in interactions with team members
    • Create, and be consistent and articulate with high-quality communications that convey clear launch goals, perspective and decisions
    • Build credibility with business partners; viewed as go-to-person for Launch
  • Business and Product Acumen
    • Comprehends Key Performance Indicators and Business Outcomes for the product, the launches and the overall health of the product strategy for the region
    • Can articulate the strategic value of the product and rough economics
    • Understands the competitive landscape and PayPal’s strategic direction
    • Understands key customer flows and dependencies
    • Is knowledgeable about domains and dependencies of product
    • Able to distill and simplify complex concepts and plans for a broad audience of technical and non-technical stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in Product Management, Strategic Planning, Product Operations,  or Program Management for a technology company
  • Experience managing large, global launches or go-to-market projects
  • Must have proficiency in English (written & spoken); other Asian languages a plus
  • 7-12 years of work experience
  • MBA preferred
  • Travel: Quarterly
  • Demonstrated knowledge of at least two of the following areas: financial services, banking, payments, retail, online commerce, internet portal, payment processors, mobile, strategic partnerships, partner engagement and integration.
