The role spans consumer and merchant segments, so the Checkout PMM is responsible for consolidating and articulating the global market trends for both. The Checkout Product Marketing Manager also needs to collaborate with other Product Marketers in the Branded Experiences and Omni Payments teams to ensure that products get built and delivered within the broader context of the PayPal Digital Wallet and the PayPal Commerce Platform solutions that serve each of our customer segments. Checkout is a signification portion of the company’s overall business and thus has high visibility; the Checkout PMM must be comfortable presenting to executives.

About Product Marketing at PayPal

PayPal’s product-oriented Product Marketer drives product commercial success as part of the larger product team including, local market product marketers, global product managers, global sales and marketing teams. PMM’s primary product is the go-to-market plan, and its execution. PMMs create this plan and deliver success though a deep understanding, and consistent championing, of the needs of global customers. PMMs are a critical voice of the customer in the entire product lifecycle from needs identification and prioritization, through design and release iterations, and finally through the commercial launch and success monitoring.

The role of a Product Marketer is comprised of two primary areas of responsibility and activity: inbound and outbound. Both activities help to define, design, and ultimately deliver on the promise of the go-to-market plan for PayPal products.

From an inbound perspective, the Product PMM continually defines the most important customer needs and opportunities. Product PMM’s actively interact with customers to deeply understand their needs as well as any unique country or regulatory requirements. They also help answer priority customer questions and requests, providing deep expertise about our products and how they are best used, appropriately handing off issues and bugs to the global product and support teams. Product PMM’s will constantly collaborate with their Market PMM and product management (PM) peers across the globe to distill the set of needs across all countries and regions into an overall set of globally prioritized needs and opportunities.

From an outbound perspective, the role will construct and document the go-to-market plan for their product, followed by close collaboration with their in-market counterparts to lead the in-market activities required to ensure successful Pilot testing and Product feedback. PMM also works with Marketing and other functions to design and execute programs that educate our customers and drive demand and sales. And finally, PMM works with finance and analytics on pricing, segmentation sizing, and setting business KPIs.
