The Sr. Product Manager role requires great organizational skills, attention to detail, experience successfully driving end-to-end delivery of data management solutions, deep understanding of data products, analytics, and technology. The ideal candidate is comfortable with enterprise data management and can complete highly strategic and complex tasks with little to no guidance. In this role, you are a product owner who is selfless and invests in internal and external customer’s successful experience with PayPal’s data management products. The candidate is completely comfortable aligning strategies and objectives across a diverse global organization

Responsibilities:

  • Own metadata strategy development, maintenance, and program execution
  • Lead and manage implementation of the Enterprise Metadata Repository - aggregate domain data glossaries into the EMR by ensuring find-ability, accessibility and reusability of Business concepts and terms; and supporting Business units in development of domain glossary.  
  • Facilitate consistent adoption of metadata procedures and standards across the enterprise, demonstrating the value added by adoption.
  • Develop key indicators to manage the Metadata program process at PayPal.
  • Build-out business cases for new features and product concepts; define and build towards launching MVPs.
  • Conduct user research within PayPal’s data community, understand their needs and synthesize into new product ideas for enhancing the metadata platform.
  • Work with business stakeholders to evaluate existing in-house solutions and prioritize core platform features.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and partners to evolve PayPal’s metadata management and opportunities.
  • Drive metadata usage, communication, and adoption across the enterprise.
  • Managing cross dependencies across teams to ensure alignment, as well as adjusting team directions and priorities when gaps exist.
  • Maintain high level of knowledge and expertise related to metadata concepts.
  • Operate as a change agent across PayPal, guiding and directing various data management and governance activities, focusing on growing the maturity level within the company.
  • Work with business, technology, and product teams to ensure alignment of objectives, initiatives, and projects with PayPal’s Data Management Framework 

Functional / Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of related experience in data management and governance, with at least 2 years of hands-on practice deploying and managing metadata.
  • Ability to simplify strategy into simple actions.
  • Strong Product Management background
  • Project management skills
  • Proficiency with industry metadata management platforms and tools like Alation, Collibra, or Informatica
  • Understanding of data related regulatory programs (e.g., DFS 504, GDPR, BCBS 239) are a big plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively present to a broad stroke of audiences including senior leaders, management, business, and technical teams.
  • Strong relationship building skills, coupled with high business acumen.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Familiarity with the trends and opportunities in the data management industry
  • An innate intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to build awareness of current payments industry and data management and governance best practices.

Education:

BS degree required in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
