In this role, the product owner is responsible for maintaining and augmenting the data platform that tracks PayPal's checkout attempts for customers. Enables PayPal to better understand how efficiently consumers are able to complete checkout payments across different products, geographies and merchants


  • Perform data analysis to provide insights to merchants. Support PayPal merchant analytics products, by providing creative solve to the business needs.
  • Work with data architects and engineers to create offline data products –data-warehouse or Hadoop based solutions.  The typical process for creating offline data products starts with initial ideation and includes analysis/research, prototyping, requirement documentation, design, development, QA, deployment and UAT.
  • Capture business requirement and produce technical requirement for backend data processing and delivery.
  • Bridge business users and the technology organizations.  Lead collaborations and discussions among cross-functional teams for effective solution-building or issue-resolutions.
  • Starting with business questions, leverage strong analytical skills, critical thinking capabilities, and in-depth understanding of PayPal’s data to collaborate with business users and engineers, brainstorm and strategize the “right” data products, initiate and document the requirements. 
  • Influence, support and contribute to the development of PayPal’s data strategies.


  • 10+ years of experience with Bachelor degree  OR 7+ years of experience with a Graduate degree
  • An ideal candidate should have a successful track record as either a business/data analyst or a data (warehouse) specialist, preferable in Financial Services industry.
  • Must have experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong skills in large dataset manipulations for customer or merchant analysis, data mining or statistical modeling.
  • Must have good understandings of Dimensional Modeling.
  • Strong SQL and Data Analysis skills.
  • Hands-on experiences with Teradata, SAS or Hadoop are strong plus.

Other Important Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking– preferable experience in financial industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentations skills.

  • Creative problem solver in a fast paced environment.
