The Product Launch Management team serves as the all-important connective tissue across the PayPal enterprise to ensure full product readiness for our global launches. Our charter is to (1) develops best practices & tools to lead and enhance how we launch products across our Consumer and Merchant segments, and (2) implement those best practices, leading the most complex launches to ensure we delight our customers and achieve business results and outcomes. As a senior member of the team, you will lead and partner with a cross-functional cast of collaborators, influencers and contributors from Product, Engineering, Program Management, Analytics, Product Marketing, Go-to-Market, Operations, Risk and Public Relations, to name a few. And you will drive the efforts towards a common goal: launch high-quality, relevant product capabilities globally across all PayPal markets.

Primary Job Responsibilities

You will create and execute against a holistic launch plan to ensure a successful global market launch for new product capabilities, enable country rollouts, lead testing activities (alpha, beta, pilots) and ensure focus on business outcomes for the market segments that we serve; lead the cross-functional global team, provide strategic and tactical expertise; be responsible for horizontal and executive communications, as well as senior-level presentations.

At a more detailed level, you will:

  • Launch strategy: Partner with key collaborators to define geographic scope, detailed timing, ramp and analytics plan; align resources to support
  • Launch execution:
    • Build and implement against a recommended launch plan that is structured, disciplined, yet ‘smartly’ flexible to absorb changes
    • Drive and disseminate the Launch framework and discipline across launches within a product portfolio, and across the organization
    • Create and manage clear Gating Criteria with business partners
    • Manage customer beta and pilots; ensure feedback is acted on by working team
    • Identify and mobilize launch working team
    • Understand needs and requirements for global rollouts in close partnership with our regional partners and teams
  • Cross-functional/organizational leadership & influence:
    • Identify key stakeholders and lead multiple projects
    • Be open, honest, and direct in interactions with team members
    • Create, and be consistent and articulate with high-quality communications that convey clear launch goals, perspective and decisions
    • Build credibility with business partners; viewed as go-to-person for Launch
  • Business and Product Acumen
    • Articulate the strategic value of the product and rough economics
    • Understand the competitive landscape and PayPal’s strategic direction
    • Understands key product and customer flows, dependencies and cross-portfolio impact
    • Distill and simplify complex concepts and plans to a broad audience of technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Comprehend and provide key insights into key performance metrics and business outcomes for the product, the launches and the overall health of a portfolio

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in Product Management, Strategic Planning, Product Operations or Program Management for a technology company
  • Experience managing large, global launches or go-to-market projects
  • 7-12 years of work experience
  • MBA preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of at least two of the following areas: financial services, banking, payments, retail, online commerce, internet portal, payment processors, mobile, strategic partnerships, partner engagement and integration.
