We are looking for a Solutions Architect, who is passionate about enabling our customer business with best in class Checkout Experience, building highly available and performant infrastructures and applications, at scale. Your peers would be experienced technologists with technical breadth and depth coupled with strong interpersonal skills. As a solutions architect, you will work with various Product and Engineering, cross functional teams at PayPal. A successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing software solutions to address complex business issues, and providing technical leadership.


  • Provide technical leadership, define architecture  strategy and best practices work with in  collaboration with Engineering and Product counterparts across the organization
  • Lead multiple complex projects and support innovation in various subdomains
  • Lead, Mentor and collaborate  with engineers and managers and operations to ensure that systems meets reliability, accuracy, reusability and performance goals
  • Partner with Engineering to drive technology and product innovation as well as operational efficiency, through rapid prototyping, iterative development
  • Innovate to improve efficiencies using state of the art technologies 
  • Collaborates  with Cross functional team leads and get architecture agreements, and document them clearly, to effectively deliver solutions and projects
  • Work with remote geographies and cross functional teams to build quality and timely solutions
  • Creates reference implementation for our integrations, articulate developer challenges and propose backward compatible changes, participate in API design and review process
  • Demonstrate good business acumen
  • Demonstrate Customer Centricity for internal as well as external stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with 8+ years of architecting, designing and delivering enterprise-grade, distributed, mission-critical applications
  • Fluent in Web services technologies, Objected Oriented analysis and design
  • A huge plus to be able to demonstrate experience and familiarity with Javascript
  • Fluent in navigating build versus buy product and architecture evaluations
  • Multiple years in an architecture role within an Agile Product Development organization
  • Possess a proven track record of developing business vision, developing technical architectures to address that vision, and communicating that vision with technologists and Product Owners to make that vision a reality
  • Exhibit strong leadership and exceptional technical skills
  • Passionate about providing world-class solutions for internal employees and millions of customers across the world
  • Possess a track record of innovation and execution in a high-pressure environment
  • Make timely and high-quality decisions based on limited information
  • Proficient using industry standards and technical expertise to establish best practices and strategic technical solutions
  • Deep understanding of Software Architecture and Design patterns
