The Role:

The Global Brand Marketing team is on the hunt for a Sr. Brand Manager of Marketing Strategy to lead the merchant team and be the voice of the merchant segments. As part of the Global Brand team, you will play a central role with the Product Marketing, Go-To-Market and Integrated Marketing teams to craft the PayPal story for merchants. You will define the value proposition by segment to drive a stronger connection with the brand and drive overall marketing excellence. Our merchants own or work for online and offline businesses, stretching from brand new business owners right through to business managers who work for established large enterprises such as Target. As well as innovative companies who are driving disruption in the marketplace like Uber and Airbnb. What You’ll Do at PayPal

  • Develop the customer narrative around how our platform products help to tell the brand story.
  • Building off the Global Brand Platform, define the value proposition for our merchant segments to connect the two-sided PayPal brand.
  • Drive a more emotional connection for merchant with our brand and give the business a north star for ensuring we are behaving as a true customer champion. 
  • Serve as the primary brand strategy liaison to Global Product Marketing, GTM and IMM teams and be the voice of the customer, through customer insights, competitive trends and a deep understanding of PayPal’s products to the planning process.
  • Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams that include Product, Regional Marketing, Research and Insights, Experience Design, Engineering, Sales and external partner teams to identify opportunities, ensure alignment and buy-in across organization.
  • Monitor category shifts and emerging markets trends and competitive intelligence to be the merchant expert and drive future growth.
  • Be accountable for meeting multiple tight deadlines, with ability to react to immediate company and project needs.
  • Apply great attention to detail with top-notch presentation, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Oversee budget development, management and tracking for all programs.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts and service providers.

This requires the successful candidate to be able to work across a matrixed organization and have experience managing multiple stakeholders across multiple levels and functions.

  • Creative- The successful candidate will have experience in the creative process, understanding the importance of strategy within the process, and the ability to think holistically across all touchpoints.
  • Experience – Ideally, we’re looking for someone with previous experience working in the tech industry, payments industry, highly regulated sectors or similar. Prior payments experience is a bonus but not a deal breaker. They should have at least 6 years in marketing related fields.
  • Personality - A sense of humor is a mandatory. We operate much like an internal agency model. We work hard but don’t taking ourselves too seriously.


  • 7-10+ years marketing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstrated ability to solve a range of challenges via strategic, analytical and creative problem solving.
  • B2B Marketing experience is preferred.
  • Tech experience preferred.
  • Has worked in a global team setting
  • Agency Planning experience a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a fluid environment. Results-driven
  • Exceptional communicator and influencer, cross-functional leader
