PayPal’s security architecture, engineering and Operation (SAEO) is centralized organization which is responsible for implementing and integrating security controls into PayPal’s platform which empowers entire PayPal’s core business. This position is in Core Security Products organization, which is part of SAEO, responsible for building security products and integrating into PayPal’s infrastructure used by more than 5000 developers across PayPal to create awesome and secure products for PayPal customers. Encryption as a Service, Key Management, Identity and Access Management for managing access, detection and prevention of automated attacks are some of the core products offered by Core Security Products organization. We are looking for someone who is passionate about security and equally passionate about engineering, to build security at scale in a friction-less manner, to join leadership position in Core Security Products organization in Bangalore to bootstrap crypto and IAM engineering augmenting teams in USA and to help build new security products, enhance and support existing crypto and IAM products. This is a leadership position directly reporting to Director of Core Security Products positioned in USA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in architecting, designing, implementing and delivering security products
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions and provide thought leadership to the team
  • Ensure timely and quality delivery of world-class security products
  • Recruit, develop, manage and retain great talent - coach on career development, provide an open & honest culture/feedback, and inspire them by providing the right level of support and challenges
  • Collaborate and influence peers and management to drive application security strategy, business goals and roadmap execution
  • Relentlessly manage priorities, address talent gaps and create an open, innovative culture that blends well with the daily execution
  • Actively work on providing visibility of security capabilities roadmap across the broader organization
  • Maintain customer focus; understand the needs of our customers, including product development, site operations, InfoSec and engage in regular contact with customers
  • Ensure that all services are defined and delivered to SLA/OOSLA KPIs

Competency Requirements

  • Prior experience in building and managing security products in encryption and key management or Access Management domains
  • Must have 10-15 years of experience managing at least 15-20 people team in crypto or Access Management domain
  • Collaborate effectively with peer application designers and Architecture team to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas and resolve technological disagreement with informed, rational debate
  • Outstanding thought leadership, architectural and implementation skills – a thinker and a doer – able to look at information security comprehensively and strategically, and able to translate business strategy into technical vision and strategy
  • Ability to build and manage high-quality teams and develop security engineering talent from both internal and external sources.
  • A self-motivated and self-directed people leader with demonstrated ability to attract, develop, retain and motivate top-tier talent and build an organization that is primed to get ahead of threats by using intelligence-based security to understand where the threats are going, in real-time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Expert level knowledge in crypto and key management domain
  • Familiar with Java, Node languages and web technologies
