Senior Manager, people management position that has ownership of policy and strategy for PayPal's resolutions and protections programs as they apply to new product offerings and key partner engagements. The position is based out of PayPal HQ in San Jose, CA. The candidate needs to be comfortable working in a dynamic, cutting edge, global company at the forefront of Payments Revolution with strong communication and a proven ability to influence and collaborate with a wide group of people

Organization:

PayPal’s world class Risk Management function is built around buyer risk, seller risk and resolutions & protections (RnP) domains. This particular role is in the Global RnP team.

Global RnP team is responsible for managing policies and strategy whenever risk manifests in the system in the form of a claim or a chargeback. The team also owns PayPal’s protections policies and programs wherein PayPal  offers Protection to the customer in case of non delivery by sellers and seller protection from fraudulent buyers. In this role, you will lead a team of managers and analysts and be responsible for developing and implementing Resolutions and Protections policies and strategies for new products/ventures and key partnerships. The team will be responsible for developing and managing strategic vision, writing and owning policy decisions, building business cases and owning analytics and policy/strategy implementation.

Experience in online payments, financial services and risk domain is preferred but not a requirement. Enthusiasm about solving problems in a fast-paced environment, building and maintaining subject matter expertise in the domain, comfort with learning, adapting and contributing to the latest cutting edge product offerings is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be an SME in the RnP domain wrt policy and platform capability as well as understanding industry/competitor offerings.
  • Engage with the new product/new venture groups within PayPal and facilitate solutions from RnP pov.
  • Engage with BD and sales group as well as key customers/partners as a POC from RnP domain to solve partner requirements.
  • Build out long term strategy and vision for the domain to handle future pipeline of products and partnerships.
  • Manage a highly talented and motivated team of analysts and product management professionals.

Job Requirements:

  • Be comfortable working in a dynamic, cutting edge, global company at the forefront of Payments Revolution.  
  • Strong problem solving skills and an ability to understand, simplify and communicate complex business concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Flexible with work timings, to accommodate interactions with global teams across the continent.
  • Strong communication and a proven ability to influence and collaborate with a wide group of people
  • Experience and aptitude to manage strong quantitative analyst and product management professionals, guide them and contribute to their development.
  • Background in data analytics, product management and program management is a plus.
  • Masters degree preferred in any of the quantitative/programming fields (math, physics, engineering, economics, statistics, programming etc)
  • 8+ years of experience in the relevant domains
  • International travel may be required, but likely to be limited to 6-8 weeks in a year.
  • The role is based out of San Jose, CA
