Member of M&A Finance team that supports deal diligence through completion of Finance Integration of an acquisition.

The M&A Finance team is part of the core cross-functional team that supports PayPal’s M&A activity led by the Corporate Development team.  The M&A Finance team is primarily responsible for accounting due diligence and analysis for all acquisitions and minority investments, as well as coordination of diligence activities performed by other M&A Finance workstreams including Tax, Treasury, Business Unit Finance, and Finance Systems (in order to represent a holistic view of the Finance function with regards to each transaction).  This role is a high visibility role in a team that is responsible for a robust understanding of US GAAP principles and the ability to arrive at risk-based conclusions related to Finance and Accounting implications of each transaction, including those issues that potentially affect deal value and business strategy. Technical Accounting background and/or Project Management background is/are required.

An ideal candidate for this role would possess the following skills/experience:

  • Experience with US GAAP technical research, interpretation, and application (specific experience with Revenue Recognition, Share-Based Compensation, Business Combinations, Goodwill/Intangibles, etc. is a plus)
  • Experience with legal contract review
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an executive presence
  • Organization skills and the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously
  • Mindset to proactively engage in M&A efforts – both internally (with other PayPal Finance and non-Finance teams) as well as externally (directly with Target’s team to drive PayPal’s understanding of financial risks)
  • Analytical mindset that focuses on key risk areas of Target financial statements and business projections
