The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and oversight of North America Canadian and US Indirect Tax filings and maintenance of Credit and Incentives positions. The position will support the Director of Indirect Tax on negotiated credit and incentives. Additionally the role will provide exposure to international Indirect Taxes through compliance support provided to the International Indirect Tax Team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and oversight of North America Canadian and US Indirect Tax filings and maintenance of Credit and Incentives positions.  The position will support the Director of Indirect Tax on negotiated credit and incentives. Additionally the role will provide exposure to international Indirect Taxes through compliance support provided to the International Indirect Tax Team.


Primary job responsibilities


  • Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of US and Canadian Indirect Tax declarations sales, use and property tax returns, credit and incentive compliance.
  • Works with colleagues in Finance to implement process improvements and indirect tax compliance best practices.
  • Supports International Indirect Tax team on improving compliance processes
  • Assists in Sales, Use, VAT and property tax audits.
  • Assist in maintenance of transaction tax and tax return software including exemption certificates, assessment of new products and services, updates to system and tax rates.
  • Works with Indirect Tax Director on the tax implications of mergers and acquisitions, and/or other structuring projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge in tax laws and accounting rules in the applicable areas. Perform research and interpret tax laws and/or tax accounting rules and regulations applicable to new business and transactions.
  • Participate in various tax related projects.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or similar field.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales tax from public accounting and/or industry
  • Proficiency in tax preparation and research tools (Vertex or equivalent, CCH or RIA)
  • Detail-oriented and strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to work independently
