The PayPal Enterprise Product and eXperience (EPX) is looking for an exceptionally talented and highly motivated Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in functional product architecture in major corporate environments. The candidate’s primary responsibility is in the architecture, design and governance of the systems, applications, technology and infrastructure that enable our internal PayPal business units and employees to be more effective in their day to day job.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership to business and technology teams to influence improved agility, platform capabilities and improved user experience.
  • Translate business needs into technology solutions and roadmaps based on deep understanding of the business needs and technical inventory.
  • Drive technical designs to consensus and approval as a leader within PayPal’s cross-functional technology team.
  • Designs and oversees solutions for specific use cases that provide frameworks, interfaces and services that can be extended and reused for future requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of cloud based system integration, Enterprise Data Security, and Enterprise Architecture Governance
  • Leads, collaborates and communicates architectural vision and governance models to development teams across the Enterprise
  • Provide regular high-level communications to the executive staff and detailed communications to company-wide stakeholders
  • Mentors product and architecture team members on architecture topics.  (e.g. issues, directions, guidelines, etc.)
  • Deliver high quality applications within aggressive timelines, with little or no guidance.
  • Proactively engage with other members and cross-functional teams to ensure all open issues are identified & resolved.
  • Increase overall code, product, design and architecture quality in the organization
  • Possess advanced understanding/experience with one or more corporate functions  such as HR, Sales, Finance, Network, Collaboration, End User Computing, Developer tools, Identity and Role Management, Security, and other areas.
  • Identify and mentor critical engineering talent, identify and recruit technical leaders into the organization.

Job Requirements

  • Must possess a proven track record of developing business vision, developing technical architectures to address that vision, and communicating that vision with technologists to make that vision a reality
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 6 years of architecting, designing and delivering enterprise-grade, mission-critical applications
  • Cloud based architecture experience required to leverage Public cloud (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) solutions to grow this space
  • Produce diagrams, reference architecture, domain models, and other artifacts that describe complex problems and sprawling end-to-end solutions
  • Must exhibit strong leadership and exceptional technical skills
  • Must be passionate about providing world-class solutions for millions of customers across the world
  • Must possess a track record of innovation and execution in a high-pressure environment
  • Make timely, high-quality decisions, based on limited information

Basic Qualifications

BSEE, CS or other relevant technical degree required

10+ years professional related experience or Master's Degree and 8+ years, or Doctorate and 6+ years
