At PayPal, we are rapidly evolving our Payments Platform, and are looking for a Sr. Director of Product who is experienced in building Platforms at scale and evangelizing the Platform to the developer community.

As Head of Product for Payment Platform, you will lead the vision, strategy and execution of Payment Platform. You will build innovative payment platform capabilities that will drive the next growth curve. You will strive for adoption of the payment platform across all of PayPal properties: PayPal, Venmo, Xoom, Braintree. You are passionate about organizing the APIs exposed by the platform to enable easy comprehension and discovery. You will create win-win opportunities working closely with PayPal Business Development and Partner Sales teams to deliver Payment Services. 

You should be comfortable using your consultative selling and strong relationship-building skills with partners as well as cross-functionally with Sales, Business Development, Product Marketing, Design, Engineering, and Legal teams to launch products that meet the strategic objectives of PayPal and our partners.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute product strategy and roadmap for the Payment Platform
  • Work closely with the executive team, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to develop and maintain a 3- to 5-year strategic product plan
  • Identify new payment related initiatives / opportunities that enable business expansion for PayPal, Xoom, Venmo, Braintree
  • Develop business cases to support new payment initiatives / opportunities by analyzing existing data and researching new data
  • Optimize product usage, product build and pricing of existing products / partners
  • Develop and deliver persuasive presentations including executive, analyst, and press briefings, industry events, webcasts, and trade shows. Be comfortable presenting and frequently interacting with senior executives both inside and outside the company and provide thought leadership towards delightful and personalized customer experiences.
  • Identify key industry trends and strategic opportunities working with partners in the payments space.
  • Partner with engineering teams to express the Payment Platform capabilities in the form of well-organized APIs. Be an advocate for the payment platform capabilities expressed through these APIs.
  • Work cross-organizationally with other product development teams, sales, marketing, customer support, operations, legal, compliance, risk management and finance to ensure alignment with go-to-market activities
  • Provide business cases for new and existing products to determine feasibility
  • Work with stakeholders to guide the release or launch of new products or product innovations
  • Ensure that roadmap and prioritization processes are well communicated and understood across the organization
  • Grow and manage a team of product managers to help achieve the vision of the payment platform, and implement/evolve processes as needed to drive platform growth
     

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Passion for great user experience, including the experience of engineers integrating with the APIs. Experience with leading APIs as products.
  • Experience with API governance and technologies. Experience with API adoption and driving usage of API in a B2B environment.
  • Experience with leading Payments Products and curiosity of the payments ecosystem
  • Must be a self-motivated, goal oriented individual with excellent organizational skills
  • Product Management experience with scalable, performant and highly-available API based SaaS platforms
  • Articulating and evangelizing a long-term product strategy
  • Proven experience of managing products especially working with senior leader and partners
  • Experience working with Global markets
  • Communicating with executive management teams, engineering teams, and business partners, with an ability to articulate the right level of detail and knowledge to each audience group, both in written and verbal form
  • A proven track record of success in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple competing and often conflicting priorities
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to persuade, inspire, and motivate others
  • 10+ years' experience with Product management.
  • 5+ years' experience working with global products in leadership position.
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or a Business Degree.
  • Previous entrepreneurial experience or MBA is preferred.
