The M&A Global Rewards leader will be responsible for the Rewards M&A lifecycle from project kickoff through due diligence, integration planning and integration execution. This role will assume responsibility as the Rewards subject matter expert, advisor and project lead on acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures for all sized deals including the most complex acquisitions. As part of the Rewards team, the Rewards M&A leader is responsible for providing scalable, repeatable, and transferable processes, tools and content to further evolve PayPal’s M&A capabilities in line with deal volume and requirements, and market leading best practices. Responsibilities include supporting and driving a robust Rewards M&A plan to drive integration success, minimize execution risks, and drive efficiencies while also identifying opportunities to enhance and evolve our operating model and overall program. This role will have a dual reporting structure to the Global Rewards and HR M&A COEs.


  • Partnering with a cross-functional deal and integration team to execute a wide range of strategic activities related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
  • Liaise and collaborate with compensation and benefits teams, stock compensation team and global mobility teams to serve as the M&A Rewards lead to advice and execute on the Rewards strategy & integration activities
  • Synthesize and present HR due diligence data, reports and provide recommendations. Quantify major areas of HR Rewards risk and opportunities, e.g. labor expenses, severance, benefits.
  • Plan and manage the Rewards aspects of the integration of acquisitions with appropriate HR Leads across the globe, ensuring the results are executed on time and with high quality.
  • Plan, lead and execute on the analysis & modeling of compensation and job leveling activities. Be proactive and customer centric in thinking through the end to end employee experience and change management required, anticipating where they may be issues, questions or risk to mitigate.  
  • Document and maintain the Rewards strategic initiatives playbook, tracking best practices, repeatable approaches and lessons learned. Lead deal retrospectives with a mindset and action of continuous improvement, innovation and evolution.
  • Build and innovate the M&A Rewards playbook by identifying ways to improve the employee experience throughout the deal cycle and integration phase - via automation, education, simplification and other types of process improvements; partnering cross-functionally and as one team to influence and implement necessary changes.

Experience applying various methodologies or practices to assess Rewards processes, issues and people.  Experience with financial analysis and reporting, market analysis and gathering competitive intelligence, particularly in relation to M&A activity.
  • M&A Rewards Experience: Experience guiding and influencing throughout all phases of deal lifecycle with potential target’s management team in pre-deal M&A activities through post-deal M&A integration activities with acquired team members, people managers and leaders into new organization and minimizing disruption.  U.S. and International rewards and M&A integration experience.  
  • Education & Industry ExperienceBS/MS degree with at least 12+ years of experience in a compensation and benefits, or global rewards role; or Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience in a compensation and benefits, or global rewards roleFluency with MS Office; previous experience with Workday software system
