The role, Head of GCCI Strategy & Global Operational Controls, is responsible for the day-to-day strategy, reporting and analytics for the GCCI organization as well as managing internal controls for the Global Customer Operations (GCO) organization. Specific responsibilities include the management of reporting and analytics for the various GCCI operational functions, the management of the GCO internal controls, and strategic planning activities for GCCI. The position will work closely with all the following organizations within PayPal: Global Customer Operations, First Line of Defense COE, Enterprise Risk, Compliance & Security, Enterprise Data Services, and Internal Audit. Detailed responsibilities will include all the following:
• Build and launch an integrated data and analytics approach for GCCI. This includes a renewed focus on reporting and analytical capabilities within GCCI to help proactively identify end to end operational and control improvement opportunities
• Lead the internal control responsibility for the GCO organization, in concert with the First Line of Defense (FLOD) Internal Controls COE and ERCS
• Responsible for project leadership across GCO for key regulatory / Audit initiatives and exams
• Create a culture of strong control discipline across the GCO operational units, focused on self-identification of control gaps, leveraging of FLOD testing results, as well as 2nd & 3rd line risk assessments and exam results
• Identify, develop and deliver strategic initiatives cutting across the different GCCI teams, inclusive of areas such as training, budgets, One Team developmental initiatives, communications and the like
• Leads strategic planning process for GCCI in close collaboration with the leadership team.
• Build and maintain credibility throughout the organization as a strategic advisor.
• Drive establishment and refinement of metrics that give visibility into opportunities, insight into root cause and accountability for improvement around identified risks, identify testing and monitoring recommendations for operational controls
• Integrate various and disparate data sources and compile coherent MIS that helps GCCI and GCO better understand the performance of their operations, risk assessments and effectiveness of their controls
• Create and manage effective, scalable processes to manage operating rhythms such as operating reviews, metrics/analytics, staff meetings, global visits, and operating excellence processes. Will work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company and customer.
• Collaborate with other Partners to prepare for Executive reviews and presentations, All Hands, and other stakeholder presentations. Able to successfully present GCCI plans and strategies to our internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:

  • MS/MBA degree or equivalent
  • 12+ years related experience or 14+ years related experience without MS/MBA degree
  • 8+ years experience managing teams and/or large, complex business assignments
  • Demonstrates strong and effective leadership skills and ability to operate comfortably within a complex cultural, global environment.
  • Experience managing internal controls as well as compliance, audit & regulatory issues
  • Able to lead through vision and values; executes tasks with clear but minimal direction; demonstrates self-awareness; serve as role model for less experienced professionals
  • Superior relationship management skills with ability to partner and build professional relationships in a cross-functional environment.
  • Organizational Aware – able to effect results by maneuvering through appropriate formal and informal organization channels
  • Ability to get at root cause of areas such as control breaks and customer complaints, and the skill to work across Operations and Business functions to solve the underlying issues
  • Able to manage teams of employees without direct reporting authority.  Strong interpersonal and influential skills
  • Ability to compile executive-level decks, and present information to various audiences across PayPal
  • Strong skills as it relates to data, reporting & analytics.  An ability to leverage analytical information to identify opportunities for PayPal business and operations teams
  • Experience in supporting operations partners in the development and enhancement of first line monitoring and testing programs
  • Expert with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.  Will constantly use these tools to deliver data and communication.
  • Proven skills related to organizational influence, project management communication and thought leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, manage projects and drive/achieve results.
  • Risk and/or Payments Background: Has a strong grasp of the payments domain and risk management experience desired but not required. Passion for learning.
