Threat Management manages threats to the company by advising executives in making threat-informed and mitigating decision to protect the enterprise, products, and customer. Threat Management proactively protects PayPal from on-going and emerging threats through data-driven decisions based on cyber intelligence data, data analytics, and threat assessments. The organization consists of multi-disciplinary subject matter experts with a broad spectrum of industry experiences and deep analytical and quantitative expertise. The team is seeking a high-energy, self-driven, and collaborative cryptocurrency researcher who brings extensive problem-solving skills to further the goal of applying creative analytical solutions to understand and manage risks around cryptocurrency.
This research position offers an opportunity to work alongside industry leading security professionals. The key objectives of this role would be to:
Research cryptocurrency wallet attack vectors and associated risks, including but not limited to takeovers, scams, and related fraud
Identify product and process-based vulnerabilities and provide remediation solutions as needed
Model cryptocurrency ecosystem threats and attack vectors
Identify data sources and industry partnerships that support cryptocurrency research initiatives
Primary Job Responsibilities
Research and forecast emerging threats associated with cryptocurrency
Investigate and identify threat actors who target our products and our customers who use them
Create data driven approaches to improve internal stakeholder adoption of cryptocurrency related intelligence
Formulate, construct, conduct and analyze controlled experiments for cryptocurrency-related threats
Develop threat modeling assessments of research findings
Articulate findings and provide recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences as necessary
Job Requirements
Ability to conduct independent data analysis and research into cryptocurrency-related threats
Knowledge of Python, PHP, Perl, or similar scraping languages
5+ years of experience of Information Security or equivalent field
2+ years of experience working with cryptocurrency-related threats
Ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear, effective manner both in written and verbal form
Advanced degree in a discipline like Software Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research or Computer Science
Ideal candidate should demonstrate history of critical and analytical thinking including problem solving, attention to detail, dealing with ambiguity, ability to handle shifting priorities/deadlines and multi-tasking
Familiarity with cross-platform threats
