As a Software QA Engineer you will create test plans, scripts, data, and automation frameworks to ensure the high quality of our software and great experiences for our customers.  Specifically working with engineers, stakeholders, and product owners you will be tasked with reviewing the user stories, turning those stories/requirements into tests cases, and writing tests to make sure the requirements are met. You will work in a fast paced environment and use good judgement knowing how to test each story, participate in Agile meetings asking questions and clarifying the state of testing, and ensuring the quality of our product for our customers principally through execution of the test automation you build, but also through manual testing where needed.

The Global Merchant Lending (GML) team is responsible for building PayPal’s Working Capital and Business Loan products that have already originated more than $15 Billion in funding to over 300,000 businesses.  We call it “Dream Fuel”.  GML products give businesses access to the capital they need, but faster and easier than traditional loans. The successful candidate will perform the following activities:

  • Review business requirements, use cases, user stories, and functional specifications, and provide feedback to clarify these documents

  • Use Selenium, SoapUI and/or similar frameworks to create and execute software QA automation solutions

  • Perform manual and automated software testing at several levels (regression, integration, etc.)

  • Create and maintain test plans, cases, scenarios/scripts, in compliance with defined QA standards and methodologies

  • Use project planning and issue tracking tools (e.g. Jira) within an agile development methodology.

  • Establish and configure environments and databases for executing test cases and scenarios

  • Monitor and support software releases during iterative development cycles

  • Use Agile/Scrum methodology along with waterfall/SDLC techniques to ensure that projects are completed in alignment with scope and schedule

  • Drive a culture of obsession around customer focus and delivering a great online customer experience

  • Be an evangelist and driver for technology innovations

  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels

A successful individual will have experience with (or understand of) the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related major

  • Minimum of 4 years of software QA experience using Selenium, SoapUI, Java, C#, Python and/or Java Script to automate website and web-service testing

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience performing manual software testing within an Agile/Scrum development environment

  • Minimum of 2 years of database and SQL experience

  • Experience with source code control and issue/defect tracking systems

  • Solid knowledge of the internet, browsers, and website usability

  • Familiar with MVC/MVP software design.  Relevant technologies: Angular, React, Vue, NodeJS

  • Knowledge of RESTful web services, SOA concepts and GraphQL

  • Worked on projects with source control/version or package management.  Relevant technologies: Github, git, npm

  • Explain how the backend affects front-end experiences more than just performance.  Relevant technologies: C#, TypeScript, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL

  • Works on a team following Agile sprints that are customer oriented.  Relevant technologies: JIRA, Confluence

  • Familiar with build tools and build pipelines including continuous development (CD), continuous integration (CI), and continuous testing (CT).  Relevant technologies: Github, TeamCity, Octopus, Jenkins, npm, Selenium, webdriver

  • Knows about Amazon Web Services (AWS) or server hosting.
