SW3 Software Engineer – Mobile API Xoom, A PayPal Service, is revolutionizing the global digital money services market by providing people with an easy, convenient and cost-effective means of sending money worldwide. We offer a secure, fast and inexpensive means of sending money, paying bills and topping up prepaid services across multiple digital platforms to both online and offline recipients. The Xoom Mobile API team is looking for a solid Java Server Software Enginee to help provide highly available reliable APIs for the Xoom Mobile Apps, improve the APIs we provide to mobile apps today, support mobile app developers integrating new Xoom Platform APIs, and implement new mobile focused APIs for our Android and iOS users.

The Xoom Mobile API team is looking for a person who is excited to learn new tools and libraries as part of our quest to make the Xoom mobile app the most reliable, safest, and quickest way to send money abroad from nearly anywhere.

To enable this, we use a wide variety of tools, including Docker for reliable deployment, nginx for lightweight routing, Spring-boot for application framework, and many others.

This job will focus on providing high reliability to customers, improving and creating APIs that enable and inspire our mobile app developers.

We expect the developer to

  • Implement and maintain business-critical financial systems
  • Deliver software development tasks efficiently and with high quality
  • Produce well-tested code through the use of automated, unit, and integration tests
  • Review code to ensure secure and bug free code
  • Refactor legacy code to make it more efficient and comply with current standards
  • Identify and fix errors, performance, scalability, and any other issues in a business-critical environment
  • Optimize overall customer experience and usability of the system
  • Implement new API features:Beginning with creating specifications, including documentation, implementation, and continuing to post-release monitoring
  • Have a dedication to creating secure code and systems

Requirements

  • 4 or more years software engineering experience
  • Experience in Object-Oriented analysis, design and development in Java
  • Experience creating web-services - micro-services, RESTful APIs, and the like
  • Experience with Spring, Maven, Git, Jenkins, or similar tools
  • Experience with Agile development and knowledge of Agile principles
  • Experience with SQL or other database technologies
  • Experience with Test Driven Development tools, such as junit, Mockito or Wiremock

Experience with these tools and skills is a bonus

  • GraphQL
  • Spring Boot Framework
  • Production monitoring tools like Splunk, Grafana, Bugsnag, Instana, and such.
  • Application containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Nginx / Envoy / F5 networking
  • Supporting mobile app developers
  • Mobile iOS or Android app development
  • Familiarity with InfoSec vulnerability protection versus SQL injection, Cross Site Scripting, and similar attacks
  • Code reliability tools, like Sonarqube, Findbugs, SourceClear
  • RxJava, Feign, RabbitMQ
