Job Description

Fueled by a fundamental belief that having access to financial services creates opportunity, PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) is committed to democratizing financial services and empowering people and businesses to join and thrive in the global economy. Our open digital payments platform gives PayPal’s 237 million active account holders the confidence to connect and transact in new and powerful ways, whether they are online, on a mobile device, in an app, or in person. Through a combination of technological innovation and strategic partnerships, PayPal creates better ways to manage and move money, and offers choice and flexibility when sending payments, paying or getting paid. Available in more than 200 markets around the world, the PayPal platform, including Braintree, Venmo and Xoom enables consumers and merchants to receive money in more than 100 currencies, withdraw funds in 56 currencies and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in 25 currencies.

The Node.JS infrastructure team at PayPal is looking for ambitious developers to join us to innovate on the Node.js platform the PayPal business runs on!

We’re looking for talented JavaScript/Node.JS developers with a passion for making software better and a desire to question all assumptions to make our products better across the board. We are a small focused team that has adapted the Node.js platform for PayPal including things like mobile, Product A/B testing, performance measurement, analytics and more.

PayPal has been at the forefront of building Node.js applications both internally with our own products and externally with our open source projects like Kraken.js. As part of our team, you’ll be responsible for building the core Node.JS framework that is used by 1000+ developers at PayPal in their work to handle over 100 million hits per day. Your work will have a direct impact on the development life cycle of PayPal Node.js applications from design to delivery. We’re looking for people who want to collaborate broadly. Our team pours our energy into these products and we want people to join us who want to be a part of the product. (Psst, did I say we are fun team?). What we do matters—both to us and to millions of people around the world. Join us and build stuff that matters, for a company handling more than $2 billion net revenue in Q4 of 2014 alone.

BS/MS. Computer Science is nice—but we’re not picky!

•Knowledge of Web technologies that we use including JavaScript, Node.js, Dust, CSS, React and Mocha. If you have all of these mastered, great! If you just have the biggies (JavaScript, Node.js), we still want to hear from you.

•Understanding of JavaScript application design and testing

•Knowledge of algorithms, design patterns, and componentization approaches

•Knowledge with cross-browser, cross-platform, and design constraints on the Web

•A constant desire to grow, learn, and explore new things

We're a purpose-driven company whose beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We hold ourselves to our One Team Behaviors which demand that we hold the highest ethical standards, to empower an open and diverse workplace, and strive to treat everyone who is touched by our business with dignity and respect. Our employees challenge the status quo, ask questions, and find solutions. We want to break down barriers to financial empowerment. Join us as we change the way the world defines financial freedom.
