You will join our team that builds and manages our GraphQL platform and infrastructure. At PayPal, GraphQL has been a complete game changer to the way we think about data, fetch data and build applications. You will be responsible for: setting direction for GraphQL use at PayPal, building infrastructure and tools, partnering with product teams, writing great documentation, and telling a great story within and outside of PayPal. If you are excited about greatly improving the way our developer’s build and ship products, then this team is a perfect match.

  • Develop infrastructure and tools for developers to build and integrate with GraphQL APIs
  • Work closely with product engineers to solve problems, build infrastructure
  • Work closely with JavaScript and Java platform teams to integrate GraphQL support
  • Design APIs that are fast, flexible and evolvable over time
  • Improve developer productivity and happiness

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience (or great interest) with GraphQL or related technologies
  • Experience building scalable APIs using JavaScript
  • Experience building re-usable JavaScript modules
  • Experience designing APIs for high performance, scalability and availability
  • Solid understanding of HTTP, REST
  • Experience working on web or mobile applications, so you can understand the requirements of your clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to new development environments, learning new systems highly desired
  • Ability to go in-depth of the technology stack to understand end-to-end system.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple teams on solutions in a fast-paced environment


  • Experience building GraphQL APIs
  • Open-source contributor, conference speaker, or blogger
