The Pricing team is responsible for the systems that support fee and foreign exchange (FX) for PayPal’s payments system. Other systems that are developed and supported by the team provide for the ability to set up experiments in price sensitivity as well as suggest optimal pricing strategies based on historical data.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

As a Software engineer, you will be responsible for working on applications and services that handle Pricing Team. You will work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation and experimentations are a given. You will master both established and cutting-edge technologies like, JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, HTML5, CSS3,Oracle DB, NoSQL DB  MongoDB is a plus. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Design, development and testing of web applications and services following best practices 
  • Work closely with design & product to craft great product experiences
  • Collaborate with peers and seniors within and across the teams
  • Assist with application deployments in our Cloud environment
  • Work with operations teams to ensure the applications and services are highly available
  • Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
  • Identify and document best practices

Requirements:

  • Proficient in client & server-side JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and webpack
  • Competent in building single page web applications using Node.js and React/Angular
  • Experience with cross-browser, cross-platform and design constraints on the web
  • Experience in developing automated unit and functional tests
  • Knowledge of multiple back-end technologies (e.g. Java, Spring)
  • Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, will be a plus
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools such as Git, SVN.
  • Exposure to microservice architecture,
  • Familiarity with Restful/GraphQL web services
  • Experience in agile development process
  • Solid knowledge of algorithms and design patterns
  • Have a passion for quality and writing clean, readable code that scales and performs well
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • 5+ years of software design and web application development 
  • BS or equivalent degree in Computer Science
