Contributes to the design and development of one or more product features or sub-system. Spends most of the time developing code. Code is well-commented and typically improves after one or more code reviews. Produces code that is sufficiently supported by unit tests. Still learning to remove unnecessary complication or abstraction. Code typically does not have a long lifetime. Interfaces with other functional teams on aspects of the feature or sub-system. Most interaction is with direct manager. Typically not visible outside of their team

We are looking for an exceptional Java software engineer to join the team that works on the PayPal backend components powering PayPal site, third party web and mobile applications. If you really enjoy building internet scale services, high performant batches/daemons, love designing implementing concurrent/reactive software systems, passionate about big data and other cutting-edge technologies then this is your job.

Responsibilities include:
- Build scalable, highly reliable product features
- Interact with cross functional teams to produce win-win solutions
- Estimate engineering effort and come up with realistic schedules
- Identify and resolve complex production issues
- Document best practices and help create knowledge base 
- Excellent communication and relationship skills. Ability to understand and articulate both technical and business issues with peers, management, and external teams.

Job Description:

Required Skills
- BS degree, preferably in a Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of working experience in software development
- A deep familiarity with Java and Spring framework
- Good experience in design and development of RESTful APIs

- Good experience in design and development of Daemons and Batch systems

- Good experience in design and development of reactive stream based systems in Java/Scala

- Good knowledge of Big data technologies including ES and Hadoop. Experience would be a plus.
- Solid understanding of the full development life cycle
- Passion for designing and engineering highly scalable software systems
- Disciplined approach to testing, quality assurance, continuous integration and dev ops processes

- Hands-on knowledge of version control systems such as GIT
- Ability to think logically, diagnose/triage and fix complex problems in live components
