Requirements • Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or related area. • 10-15 years of professional experience with at least 5 years hands-on in some of the following areas: •High level programming language, e.g., C++ (preferred), Java. •J2EE, .NET, Linux/Apache development. •OO-based design and development. •Database design and programming. (Oracle/Sybase/MySQL) •Full-SDLC cycle, with large-scale live roll-out participation as a developer. • Technical management or team lead experience in current job. • Ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams across geographies and time zones is essential. • Highly effective people skills at all levels, including strong capability in relating to technical staff. • Strong verbal and writing skills; ability to thoroughly understand product specifications, and ability to relate these to product development activities. • Experience in finance-related domains is an advantage.

The primary duty of the software engineering manager is to project-manage the delivery of software on PayPal.com. In addition, there will be team administration and people management roles.  This position requires background in software engineering and technical management.  We seek candidates who have grown from the ranks of hands-on software developers.  The successful candidate will assist an existing engineering manager to run the day-to-day operations of a software engineering team in a cross-geography, matrix-based organisation.



Responsibilities

  • Manage global cross-functional team in software delivery, software maintenance and second line technical support.
  • Validating and managing project scope.
  • Project tracking, reporting and auditing.
  • Resolve project issues, communicate status and coordinate activities with peer teams across geographies.
  • Ensure successful implementation, integration, testing and roll-out of software.
  • Meet project milestones and timely release of software according to roll-out plans.
  • Enforce established processes, technical and QA standards.
  • Resource and project roadmap planning.
  • Team administration and staff development
