Code bugs and system issues are a natural part of any complex payment system. The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Operations Team is a selected group of PayPal technologists focused on keeping these issues to a minimum and ensure minimal or no impact to our customers.

The team is a combination of talented system engineers, skilled developers and highly motivated individuals, working closely with Incident Managers, Product Development, Operations and many other part of the PayPal Organization to achieve our common goal.

We offer a unique opportunity to get not only an in-depth knowledge of payment systems, but also a breadth of knowledge across all PayPal products as well as industry standard technologies and architecture.

The SRE Operations team is looking for a talented engineer with a mix of software and systems knowledge who will be responsible to monitor the health of PayPal applications as well as improve the overall supportability and maintainability of the PayPal offerings.

This role provides the opportunity of working from the cutting edge PayPal Command Center, giving a center stage view of what it takes to move thousands of dollars every second through an extremely complex environment.
 

The successful candidate will be a hands-on developer with a good understanding of Linux system internals and an insane passion for learning new things an continuously challenge the status quo.
 

You will be required to work on a 12 hours a day shift Thursday through Saturday and alternate Wednesdays. No On-Call.
 

The ideal candidate should possess the following requirements:

Three or more years of software development experience 
Strong knowledge of networking and Unix/Linux administration
Experience in working with complex multi-tier applications in large scale systems
Intellectual curiosity and desire to solve problems
Skilled at juggling and prioritizing simultaneous tasks
Quality and detailed oriented
Highly energetic personality and great team player
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
