The Product & Technology, China team is looking for a passionate, self-driven Information security manager join the team As Site Reliability Engineering Senior Manager you will be responsible for the number one priority at the company: Availability. You will be heading the 24/7 operation and payment platforms. The geographically dispersed Command Center team is responsible for management of all site infrastructure including network, systems/cloud, storage, databases, and critical batch and application support. This is a unique and exciting time to join PayPal Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), as the Command Center has recently joined SRE to focus on site reliability as a whole both reactive in terms of incident response as well as proactive and preventative. This leader will use his/her engineering/site-reliability experience coupled with operational and service-management experience to automate, adopt cloud-computing paradigms, use system-intelligence approaches, and create a practice for real-time problem detection and auto-remediation of issues across the stack. Finally, this individual will partner and collaborate with other teams in Core Platform & Infrastructure that includes teams that are responsible for data centers, data infrastructure, private IaaS, developer frameworks, platform services, and engineering tools and environments. The role also requires a deep engagement with product development teams across various business units on a daily basis to help onboard, manage, troubleshoot and operate their application as we deliver connected commerce to the world.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the strategy, development, and operations of  Command Centers; directly manage the Incident, Systems, Problem, Change, and Availability Architecture teams
  • Deliver world-class infrastructure operations at high levels of availability (99. 97% and above)
  • Manage to Key Performance Indicators including:
    • ATB (Availability To Business)
    • TTD (Time To Detect)
    • TTR (Time To Restore)
    • FCIs (Failed Customer Interactions)
    • Change Success
  • Drive execution excellence continuously through hands-on leadership with deep technical expertise and the use of operational excellence methodologies
  • Continuously drive down TTR (Time To Restore) & TTD (Time To Detect) by applying data science to create real-time deviation detection and improve availability through alerts, visualizations and real-time automated remediation.
  • Respond to and update executive leadership during incidents and Operational Reviews
  • Create a culture of Service Management excellence and a drive to excel at the core needs of our customers
  • Reduce and prevent incidents through service onboarding, change management, and driving technical-debt reduction
  • Provide organizational leadership for a geographically dispersed organization including recruiting and retaining top talent, coaching, mentoring, and career development
  • Drive the continuous improvement of detection and automated remediation to fit PayPal s scaling needs
  • Create a learning organization and motivate to improve morale and create engagement among employees
  • Provide problem-solving leadership for complex infrastructure implementation, system upgrades and operational troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance and Disaster Recovery readiness
  • Ensure adherence to security requirements including patching, access control, and compliance
  • Manage budget to achieve annual targets for both CapEx and OpEx

CANDIDATE BACKGROUND:

  • Experience of operating Kubernetes in production
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in infrastructure and technology operations including experience in a highly available (99. 95%+), large-scale (10,000s of servers) environment
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a leadership role
  • Minimum of 3+ years with incident management, problem management, and change management functions
  • Experience with traditional operations but with an appreciation and the experience to modernize based on site reliability operations principles
  • Demonstrated experience in building and leading high-performing world-wide engineering teams
  • Experience managing large budgets (CapEx and OpEx) and vendor relationships
  • Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery architecture and operations experience
  • Proven leader with exceptional employee engagement
  • Experience with executive communications and management
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English
  • Operational Excellence background/experience/certification
  • Strong security background/experience/certification (CISSP) a plus
  • Strong ITIL background and experience a plus

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor s Degree or equivalent experience
