As part of PayPal’s Global Professional Services organization, the Solutions Engineering team is responsible for delivering integrations of PayPal services across our strategic partners, Channel partners, enterprise organizations & major merchants. The Sr. Solutions Engineers responsible for providing pre-sales business process analysis, product function expertise and engineering support for customers who are implementing PayPal services. This role directly partners with the assigned Engagement Managers, and Account Managers who drive business development and ongoing business and operational issues with internal and external partners throughout the pre-sales, sales, and the end-to-end integration process. The Sr. Solutions Engineer creates and maintains solution designs for each integration opportunity and supports all technical development, testing and launch requirements of the project. Acting as the “voice of customer,” the Sr. Solutions Engineer provides feedback to the product managers, technology, and other internal groups on best practices, product suitability for each customer, and ease of use on new and existing function/features. In addition to these responsibilities, the Sr. Solutions Engineer must be able to work independently with other cross-functional teams, including Account Management, Sales/BD, Product Management, Information Security, Risk and Operations teams across PayPal as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with merchant service team to provide product consultation and lead integration solution discovery during the sales cycle
  • Communicate PayPal’s capabilities, vision and key competitive differentiators
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert in areas of products and integration. Ensure merchants implement optimal integration strategies, techniques and user experience best practices.
  • Develop Solution Designs that define the solution and how it is to be implemented by the merchants’ engineering team.
  • Own technical delivery of a working solution from design, working with merchants’ engineering teams through integration, testing, implementation and launch.
  • Responsively identifies and troubleshoots integration technical issues both internally and with merchants.
  • Identify any product/functionality gaps and collaborate with internal product and technology teams to define the necessary development to support solution delivery.
  • Become a recognized product expert with the internal product set and act as a guide for internal partners in identifying potential solutions for new market verticals.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including compliance, privacy, risk, information security, support and operations to ensure all aspects of a launch are managed.

Work Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in integration management or sales engineering & have related experience in sales, project, or product management.
  • 3+ years of experience with Internet and mobile technologies including Web Services, Restful APIs, JavaScript, HTML/HTTP, iOS, Android and leading web and mobile application framework.
  • Experience with enterprise organizations preferably retailers/eCommerce/payment gateways/hosting companies, working on shopping carts is desired.
  • Good team player with collaborative approach and ability to forge constructive relationships quickly
  • Able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and flexible approaches

  • Professional and engaging communication skills with ability to adjust communication styles with all levels of organization, including C-level executives, middle management, finance and operations, technical/IT staff and line personnel.

  • Ability to rapidly understand new products and demonstrate adaptive problem solving skills.
  • Language(s) needed for Job: English, Cantonese & Mandarin
  • Technical skills, including:
    • Proficient with one or more of the following programming languages: Java, C++, ASP, Ruby, .NET, PHP.
    • Proficient with HTML and JavaScript.
    • Experience with Internet and mobile technologies including Web Services, Restful APIs, HTML/HTTP, iOS, Android and leading web and mobile application frameworks.
