Partners & Marketplaces organization builds end to end payment capabilities that powers payment experiences on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Prestashop, Aliexpress etc. Our organization is chartered to bring payment capabilities and other value-added services to Partners and Marketplaces in both online and offline channels. It is our goal to package the complexity of our payment system in a simple integration for our partners and provide a seamless checkout experience for their consumers. We are looking for passionate senior services engineers to design and build out the new API and platform we are building for our partners and their customers. Engineers own the roadmap for their components and are empowered to make strategic and tactical decisions for their components. As an engineer on our team you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the platform services supporting PayPal user experiences on multiple channels (web, mobile, etc.), as well as integrations with partners. You will partner with product teams to understand the requirements and deliver platforms and APIs that meets these requirements.   • Design, define, and write APIs for high performance, scalability, and availability
  • Ability to go in-depth on the technology stack, across different technologies to understand our end-to-end systems.
  • Own and drive development and delivery of platform components
  • Partner closely with product and other dependency teams to craft great product experiences.
  • Be innovative through rapid prototyping and iterative development.


  • BS/BA or equivalent with 5+ years professional software development experience.
  • BS in Computer Science or related degree required. MS preferred
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and design patterns, and programming skills
  • Experience in designing, developing and delivering software and/or platforms used by other developers,
  • Good understanding of web services and SOA related standards like REST/OAuth/JSON and SOAP/WSDL.
  • Familiar and comfortable with the technologies, the tradeoffs, and the design patterns emerging in web services
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You have a bias towards action and results
  • Proven problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively both independently as well and within a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of programming languages, especially Java
