The Xoom Platform Engineering API team is responsible for implementing and maintaining the APIs that provide access to the core resources needed for creating Xoom money transfers. We use a technology stack including microservice-based REST APIs, Java, MySQL, Spring, Zookeeper, Redis and Elastic Search. We are looking for an exceptional software engineer to help design, build, and maintain rock-solid APIs. Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain business-critical applications providing APIs to Platform resources
  • Independently design, code and test complex features that will need to fit into a complex ecosystem of interacting applications and APIs
  • Responsible for the full application lifecycle from design to successful operation in production
  • Produce well-tested code, including unit tests and integration tests not because you have to, but because you know it makes your code better
  • Coordinate incoming priorities of multiple teams that use our APIs to ensure the timely delivery of your work
  • Work with other engineers, product managers, QA and operations to ensure that our systems meet our reliability and performance goals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the intellectual curiosity that drives a desire to understand the problem
  • Help identify and fix performance, scalability and other issues in a time critical environment

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, preferably in Java
  • Experience with writing and consuming REST APIs
  • Experience with Agile development and knowledge of Agile principles
  • Write unit tests not because you have to, but because you know it makes your code better
  • Can take and give constructive criticism in the form of code reviews and pair programming
  • Want to work in an Agile, fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy coding every day
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with a microservice architecture is a plus, as is knowledge of the Spring Framework and SQL

Education:

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent knowledge
